Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape to Be Auctioned in Buenos Aires

BUENOS AIRES—Move over, D-list sex tape celebs. Another alleged Marilyn Monroe sex tape is about to be auctioned off, this time with a starting price of a cool half million, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which says there are two known copies (one 8mm, the other 16mm) of the 6-minute film that shows a pre-Marilyn Norma Jeane Baker, or a really good doppelganger, “masturbating and having sex with an unknown man.”

The previous Monroe sex tape—a 15-minute silent believed to have been shot during the '50s showing Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified man was reportedly confiscated by J. Edgar Hoover during the mid 60s in an effort to implicate John F. Kennedy and/or Robert F. Kennedy—sold for $1.5 million in 2008 to a New York businessman.

The current film “will be the highlight of the first Buenos Aires Film Collecting Fair,” which takes place Aug. 6-7 at the Borges Cultural Centre. Event producer Mikel Barsa, who claims he sold the 16mm copy in 2001 to a private collector for $1.2 million, said he expects this copy to go for more than double the asking price.

Questions remain, of course, whether it really is Norma Jean in the film believed to have been shot sometime in 1946-7, but Barsa said that documents from the FBI investigating the origin of the film imply its authenticity, as does a set of jewelry worn by the woman that is similar to those worn by Monroe in films and photographs from the same time period.

“Barsa explained how an American officer took these films to France, where they remained stored and forgotten for decades in an antique shop in Paris, until two Spanish collectors unknowingly bought them together with other films, and later discovered the great resemblance of the film’s star with Norma Jean Baker,” said the Reporter.
