LOS ANGELES—Director Lee Roy Myers, known for his work directing the New Sensations parodies, has parted ways with the company is now seeking work from other adult studios. Myers told AVN that the split was amicable and that he’s looking to explore new projects.
Myers helmed New Sensations' parody division since its inception about two years ago. His first work as a director was the well received The Office: A XXX Parody in March 2009, and he’s since gone on to make Entourage: A XXX Parody, Scrubs: A XXX Parody, Seinfeld: A XXX Parody, The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody and numerous others, 21 in all.
He also recently began to work on the company’s new line of Romance movies as a director, writer and producer on such titles as An Eternal Love, The Wedding Day and Awakening to Love.
While Myers wasn’t under exclusive contract with the studio, with his work writing, producing and directing for the company he wasn’t able to fully explore other opportunities that came his way.
“New Sensations gave me a great opportunity and I loved every minute that I got to work with them and their great team,” Myers told AVN. "[Company owner] Scott Taylor is a friend and mentor and the entire team was behind my work. The public relations push, the marketing, really helped my titles succeed. They were loyal and supportive and let me shine. I have to thank them for it.”
Ultimately, in addition to his work on parodies, Myers wants to explore his own original projects.
“I feel like there’s more for me to try,” Myers said. “Different experiences breed different outcomes. I’d like to see what lies ahead and take the next step in my career. I still have many more parodies and romance movies in me.”
Myers’ work has been critically acclaimed by the adult press, mainstream media and fans alike. His movies have been featured and discussed on TMZ.com, FunnyOrDie.com, Jimmy Kimmel Live, G4TV, E! Entertainment, Filmmaker Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and more.
Myers has quickly moved forward on new projects and is set to release Miss Conduct under his new high-end, girl/girl studio Nightingale. He’s actively seeking a new home at a new company to write, direct and produce.
“With new projects in the works, and new directions that I would like to take my productions, I will continue to create high-quality, top-selling adult movies, much like the parodies and romance features that I have built my reputation on,” Myers said. “I promise you, the best is yet to come.”
While Myers would like to arrive at his new destination soon, he said that it’s more important for him to find the right situation and to finally enjoy the first real break he’s had in over a year in the meantime.
“I’ve been so busy for the past year-plus,” Myers said. “I hadn’t really had a chance to examine the situation. I’ve been shooting a lot, and I loved shooting a lot. Now I can sit back and see what I’d really like to do. New Sensations has been very open in what their intentions are, which is creating high-quality movies—parodies, Romance films and high-end all-sex. We’re interested in the same thing, but not every project I want to do will be perfect for New Sensations. I respect that.”
New Sensations has declined to comment on Myers’ departure.
