LAS VEGAS—Kleio Valentien struck AVN gold for the second time by donning the costume of comic-book badgirl Harley Quinn, this time for Wicked Comix' Suicide Squad XXX: An Axel Braun Parody after last year's award-winning turn in Batman v Superman XXX, also from Axel Braun and Wicked Comix.
"I'm just so happy," Valentien said from the stage. "I'm so happy to be a part of this industry. I love it and I love all you guys."
Valentien also won for Best Three-Way B/B/G for her scene with Tommy Pistol and Charles Dera in Suicide Squad XXX.
"It was amazing winning Best Supporting Actress last year in Batman v Superman and then Best Actress in Suicide Squad XXX this year for my role as Harley Quinn," Valentien told AVN. "Harley Quinn is a role that I really love playing, and having other awesome people to play off of like Tommy Pistol and Charles Dera made it even better."
Valentien said her performance in Suicide Squad XXX reflected changes she noted in the character after Batman v Superman: "Last year, Harley Quinn was just crazy and doing whatever she wanted. This year, Harley Quinn was still psychotic but had some moments where she was sweet. I was also able to play her before she became Harley Quinn and was Dr. Harleen Quinzel. I loved getting to play both roles of her in this movie."
Valentien has been moving into more character-driven acting roles in the last few years. "I like doing both sex performing and acting because they are not the same at all," Valentien told AVN. "It is fun going to set and shooting a scene—but it is also great having the challenge of the acting roles. So far I have been able to play great roles over the years and I just hope that there will be other parodies made that I will have the chance of acting in."
Asked what she likes best about Suicide Squad XXX, she finds it hard to choose: "It is really hard to pick just one part that stands out more than the other. I am really proud of the whole movie," Valentien said. "I guess if I have to pick something it would be the part where I am with the Joker, Tommy Pistol, and he was behind the glass of his cell. The interaction between the two of us was just really creepy. Working with Tommy on any acting roles is fun."
What are Valentien's plans for the upcoming year? She said she is looking forward to "a lot of my firsts in 2017," including her first d.p.
