Kick Ass exclusive (and former gubernatorial candidate) Mary Carey has signed an exclusive, five-year distribution deal with Kick Ass Pictures.
Since March of this year, Carey has been under exclusive contract with Kick Ass Pictures, the only company for whom she has performed hardcore boy/girl scenes. That contract was due to expire on March 1, 2004.
The new contract taking its place is a distribution deal that allows Carey to retain ownership of her movies.
“After the media attention from the campaign, I got offers from all the biggest porn companies,” Carey remarked. “But I chose to stay with Kick Ass because it is quite simply the best adult video company in the world! When I signed with them in March, [Kick Ass president] Mark Kulkis told me that he’d make me into a superstar. And that’s exactly what he did. He masterminded my run for Governor of California. Thanks to Kick Ass, after less than a year I’m arguably the most well-known porn star in the world!”
Kulkis added: “Replacing her standard contract with a distribution deal made sense. First of all, she earned it. In terms of marketing, I may have set them up, but Mary knocked them down. She has a great media presence. “
Kulkis noted that Carey is now getting offers for mainstream projects (she recently landed a small role in an untitled mainstream movie) and personal appearances. “Given her hectic schedule, we don’t know how many porn movies she’ll be in a position to do over the next year. Under this new arrangement she has the freedom to pursue mainstream projects, but Kick Ass will remain the official home for all Mary Carey hardcore porn for the next five years,” he said.
The first movie under the new distribution deal will be Run Mary Run, a tell-all “docu-porno” about Carey’s run for governor. It co-stars Ron Jeremy as Spooge Cruztamante and Lee Stone as Ernie Gropenegger, and will be released simultaneously on VHS and DVD on January 27.
