LOS ANGELES—"What's Up With This Sudden Interest?"—the seventh chapter of writer/director and reigning AVN Male Performer of the Year Seth Gamble's eight-part epic Reckless—bowed today on Wicked.com.
Produced by four-time AVN Director of the Year Axel Braun, Reckless follows the tumultuous tale of racing enthusiast and tech virtuoso Silas Knight, portrayed by Gamble in his inaugural lead performance for a self-penned and directed narrative project.
According to a provided synopsis, "The plot takes a spellbinding turn as 'What’s Up With This Sudden Interest?' explores the uneasy union between Silas's former associate and rival, the masterful mechanic Brooke Michaels (superbly portrayed by AVN Best Actress - Featurette Kenna James), and notoriously corrupt detective Matteo Bennett (brilliantly embodied by three-time AVN Male Performer of the Year and Hall of Fame luminary Lexington Steele). Amidst the rising tensions, Silas also finds himself ensnared in a confrontation with psychotic Dr. Joseph Curwen—a role reprised with diabolical artistry by Tommy Pistol, following his unforgettable portrayal of Curwen in Gamble's Deranged."
Of James' portrayal of Michaels, Gamble hailed, "Every time I watch her work, it’s clear to see why Kenna’s become the superstar she is today. She brings incredible focus and professionalism to every aspect of her performance; you can count on her coming to set impeccably prepared. But even her most ardent fans are going to be blown away by what she brings to Reckless. It was a given that she’d deliver an explosive sexual performance, but the nuances to her acting are nothing short of revelatory.”
Turning to Steele, he continued, "I can say the same thing about the legendary Lexington Steele. His acting talents have remained a hidden treasure in our industry, he’s been underutilized in that sense. Furthermore, Lex has been one of my closest friends in the industry and has been an inspiration in my career. It was an honor that he chose to be my antagonist in Reckless. Definitely a bucket list moment. Frankly, I couldn’t have picked a better person to bring this menacing cop to life. Matteo Bennett is a symbol of police lawlessness fueled by a hardened internal culture where cops don’t call out the bad apples, they protect them. Lexington was pleased to have a real character he could flesh out and build from the ground up. He and Kenna are consummate professionals in every sense, and their incredible sex scene reflects this.”
For Steele's part, he confided, "When Seth explained the story to me and extended the opportunity to carry a main role in the movie opposite him, I had to do it. After a three year hiatus, it was rewarding to know my return would include being directed by Seth, as well. He's an insightful director, and I wanted to be at my best. I enjoy dialogue roles and really becoming the character. As a director, Seth allows for that, given his experience on both sides of the camera. I appreciate that. The casting was fantastic, as well. My scene with Kenna may be the scene of the year. She was extremely motivational and it comes across in our incendiary chemistry. I think we all were at our best on this one. Seth is a great director who makes others great under his leadership."
