Though rumors have been flying for weeks, the official announcement finally came through this morning: John Rutherford, former President and Head of Production of Falcon Studios, has reached an agreement to acquire the 36-year-old high-quality photography and video production company Colt Studio, bringing the Colt, Buckshot, Spurs, Legendary Bodies, Minute Men, Olympus, and Cadre brands under multi-award winning director Rutherford's ownership and control.
This acquisition, through Rutherford's company Prowest Media Corporation, solidifies Rutherford's position as a leader and premier producer of man-on-man adult entertainment. GayVN Hall of Fame Inductee Rutherford produced over 280 titles and won numerous awards and accolades during his 14 years? experience as President, Executive Producer and Director with the Falcon Family of Companies.
Colt Studio and its subsidiaries, under the creative photographic genius of founder Jim French, has had a defining influence on 20th Century photography, sexuality, and capturing the timelessness beauty of the male form, and John Rutherford plans to ensure it thrives in the 21st Century and beyond. "Colt is a great brand, perhaps the greatest, and this acquisition will allow us the opportunity to maximize its potential. The heritage of the Colt Studio name is rich and yet at the same time the power of the brand is relatively untapped. I am excited by the tremendous potential for growth and the opportunity to further develop the Colt Studio name," says Rutherford, who plans on re-launching a membership website, ColtStudio.com, and providing a new line of videos and accessories.
As part of this transaction, Jim French has been asked to continue to pursue his creative activity in photography. "I'm very happy to see that the business that I created many years ago will experience a new phase of its development under John Rutherford. I'm delighted to continue my own activity together with John Rutherford and his team," says French.
