Hollywood Adult Video and Laurie Holmes will release The Real John Holmes: The Wonderland Murders Exposed, featuring audiotapes of John Holmes telling his side of the infamous Wonderland murders, in early January at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) in Las Vegas.
John Holmes was considered a suspect in the Wonderland Murders, the drug-related slaying of four people at 8763 Wonderland Avenue in Laurel Canyon on July 1, 1981.
While Holmes was the most famous suspect in the case, the major suspect in was Eddie Nash a Los Angeles nightclub owner and alleged drug dealer who pled guilty in 2000 to conspiracy to commit the Wonderland murders.
Holmes went to trial on charges related to the Wonderland murders and was acquitted, but soon after he was held for 18 months for contempt before finally agreeing to testify in the case. To date, his testimony remains sealed under court order.
Laurie Holmes, John’s widow, notes that DVD will be the first time the general public will be able to learn John’s side of the story. “The audio is pretty lengthy. He goes into how he met the people at Wonderland and basically takes you all the way through it,” Laurie told AVN.com.
The tapes were made by John during the last five years of his life (he died in March of 1988 from AIDS-related illnesses) to be the basis of his autobiography, Porn King, which Laurie published in 1998; the book is currently out of print. While some of the information regarding the Wonderland murders was included in the autobiography, Laurie confirms that a good portion of the information on the tapes has never before been made public.
“This is what nobody else has ever heard – John’s side of the story in his own words. But you’re going to have to buy the DVD to find out what his side of the story is,” she said.
Not that The Real John Holmes is limited to audio regarding the murders, which were the basis of the mainstream film Wonderland, with Val Kilmer playing John Holmes – there’s also clips a man who is arguably the most famous male performer to ever work in Adult plying his trade at various stages of his career, culled from Hollywood Video’s extensive library. “There’s some favorite classics of John doing what John did best,” Laurie said.

The DVD will also feature a photo gallery with pictures that have never been released to the public before, as well as an interactive Holmes-themed game called Shoot the Wadd.
“It’s an aiming game. John is shooting his wadd and you have to hit the right girls, but you can’t hit the girl’s without teeth or the girls with cocks,” Laurie revealed. “You lose points if you do. It’s brain bubblegum. That’s one of his phrases, ‘brain bubblegum.’”
Of course, Hollywood doesn’t expect the video game to drive sales of the DVD.
“We had a unique opportunity to work with Laurie on this project and put to rest any remaining questions people have about John Holmes and his involvement in the Wonderland murders,” states Bambi Hall, president of Hollywood Adult Video. “Our pre-orders have been overwhelming. People really want to know Johns side of the story.”
Laurie Holmes currently works at Hollywood Adult Video as their sales manager.
