MONTREAL—Multiple AVN Award-winning writer/director Jacky St. James delves into erotic thriller territory with her new project for Sweet Sinner/Mile High Media, The Obsession, starring Abella Danger and Chanel Preston and slated for a late summer release.
"When I met with Mile High to discuss upcoming films, the idea for Single White Female came up and I immediately jumped on the opportunity to do a film loosely inspired by the cult classic," St. James said of the project's genesis. "Although the plot of The Obsession is different, it does center around one woman's obsession with her roommate. It is the intensity between Chanel Preston and Abella Danger that creates something truly unique and magical.”
She continued, “While researching for this film what was most important to me was really getting into the ‘stalker’ character's head. Motivation and intention are important. Villains typically don't look at themselves as villains. Their internal monologue isn't always riddled with judgment or self-criticism for their actions. I wanted Abella's character, Michele, to have that level of truth—and Abella absolutely brings that. She is one of the most underrated actresses in the business, in my opinion, and is capable of more than one would expect (given her popularity in all-sex releases). She brought something that wasn't just on the page—and that's the testament of a true actor. It was one of the few times in adult where I've watched the first cut of the film and said, ‘Yes. This movie is exactly what I hoped it would be.’”
Added Mile High vice president Jon Blitt, “This is a remarkable erotic thriller from Sweet Sinner and Jacky St. James. The Obsession will have viewers questioning their own notions of sexual desire when admiration turns to obsession. It’s a very gripping and sexy film that I expect to grab major award contention.”
Filling out the cast of the movie are Adria Rae, Reena Sky, Michael Vegas, Logan Pierce and Jay Smooth.
