'It's Not Porn' Fake Ad Spot Cheered at Cannes Screening

CANNES, France—The ad spot itself has been around for a little over a year, but it remains fresh and funny even after several viewings, and it was apparently something new for an audience in Cannes Thursday during a Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase, where the crowd "loudly cheered" the screening of the Alberto Belli-directed short It's Not Porn, according to AdWeek.

Like AdWeek, we're not going to spoil the ad spot by talking about it, but we are willing to pique interest with a quote from Belli in an interview with Shoot, in which he explained the inspiration for the film: "I had heard a lot of stories from friends who are actors about the stuff they have to do on auditions," he said. "Then I was watching TV one day and I wondered about a girl in a sex scene. What would she tell me if I asked her how she got the role? I thought it would be funny to play with that concept."

Funny, indeed, and though the video itself is less than two minutes in length, the effort just proves how much mileage one can get with the right idea, especially if it includes a little porn ... or does it?
