There were no tears or long goodbye waves at the end of this year’s Adult Novelty Expo, but what was obvious throughout the closing day was the satisfied grins of hundreds of vendors and attendees.
This year, the 2006 ANE show, with several locations spread throughout the Sheraton and Hilton at Universal City Walk, brought together a large crowd of business to business attendees that not only boosted sales for current and new companies, but also provided support to one another.
When attending companies were asked how they felt the show sales went for them, a common refrain was heard, “Much better than we thought.”
When asked how the show went for them, Dork Side Productions responded, “This was our first show and it went great, better than we expected… plus, we had a great location across from the bar, so that didn’t hurt.” And Velveteeth reported that the show not only met their expectations, but exceeded them as well.
When Sales Manager for Ruff Doggie Styles, Heather Hilton, was asked how she felt her booth did this year, she said that the combination of ANB’s positive reviews and the ANE show has increased her steadily growing business.
The gracious handouts filled bags to their brims with products that ranged from vibrating cockrings, samples of lube, and even the ever endearing edibles from Chocolate Walrus who’s cutie representatives asked attendees, “Would you like a piece of ass, a sweet piece of tushy, or a boobie shaped... chocolate, that is?” The sales pitches were never ending.
However, like every good turn-out, this show too came to an end. It was a day of exhaustion for most, but also a relaxed day of meeting your neighbor and swapping stories, and even more swapping of business cards than the previous days before. With the least amount of attendees for the final day, booth holders took the opportunity to settle down and converse with other booths about future plans.
The last day of the 2006 AVN’s ANE show was a day of tearing down displays and building up new friends and new contacts, mixed with lots of packing and preparations to head back to the office or warehouse. The memories will last a good long while and the companies hope that sales will continue to grow in the coming months.
