If some dime store romance novelist were to pen a storybook about the year Mick Blue and Anikka Albrite lived beginning with the 2014 AVN Awards and culminating with this year’s ceremony, it would almost surely be brushed off as too sickeningly perfect for even the most schmaltz-loving softie to take seriously.
At the ’14 Awards, the couple was bestowed the joint prize for Best Anal Sex Scene, for Albrite’s very first such scene in her Hard X showcase Anikka. Then in March, the real-life lovebirds made their adoration of each other official by marrying on a painting-like day atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Fast-forward to this January, and to cap it all off, the still newlyweds were crowned back-to-back in a once-in-a-lifetime unfolding of serendipity as AVN’s new Male and Female Performers of the Year.
“It literally was a dream come true,” Blue told us, “because I wished it so much for myself that my wife Anikka was going to win it, and then when she won it and I realized that we both won it together at the same time, it was just like, ‘Oh my fucking God.’ It’s hard to describe. After that, sorry to say it, but the rest of the AVN Awards Show was just a blur. It’s like time stays still.”
Gazing fondly at her beau, Albrite remarked, “Well, I remember when they called your name, I was so happy because I wanted that for you all year, I was really hoping you would get it, so when they called Mick Blue, I was like, ‘Yes, that’s my husband!’ and I started crying. It was so awesome.”
She continued, “You know, even if I didn’t get it, I think it would have been really awesome to have had you get it, because I wanted you to have it so badly. But we were both thinking, ‘You know what the coolest scenario would be? If we both got it. But that’s never going to happen. I mean, what are the chances?’”
However slim the chances may have seemed, the stars were clearly aligned in the pair’s favor.
“It was so unbelievable,” Albrite marveled. “It’s like a perfect fairy tale come true.”
