iVillage is partnering with Drugstore.com to launch an online sex boutique storefront, iVillage announced May 20.
The launch was expected to coincide with the official launch of an "Awaken Your Sexual Self" online course aimed at helping women get past a lack of sexual desire, according to InternetNews.com
Partnering with Drugstore.com is a cross-marketing alliance giving iVillage a chance at revenues from a potentially lucrative source, iVillage spokesman Carl Fischer said to InternetNews.com. This follows iVillage's moves to draw subscription fees for a slice of its content offerings, InternetNews.com added.
Not that iVillage and cybercommerce are strangers: they already run a storefront for women that specializes in physical products. Fischer told InternetNews.com Drugstore.com would handle the back-end technology while iVillage handles the marketing, but Drugstore.com would help provide "a safe, private and reputable buying environment."
