iBill Settles with Cybersocket; More Lawsuits Said Coming

Cybersocket has settled their issues with beleaguered payment processor iBill, after filing two separate small claims court actions against the company last week stemming from the alleged non-payment of ads in the gay and lesbian publication.

Morgan Sommer, president of Cybersocket, told AVNOnline.com that his company received a cashier’s check for the full amount owed – $10,000 – from iBill last Thursday.

“The message to me is, pleading with them, asking them kindly didn’t work. The only thing that worked was resorting to legal action,” Sommer said.

iBill’s reaction to the suit, which had been publicized on AVNOnline.com, came as a surprise to Sommer and his partners.

“We were pleasantly surprised,” he said. “My partners and I had given up on ever receiving those funds.”

For now, the air is clear between the two companies. Cybersocket’s first claim has been dropped and the second will likely follow. What will not follow, said Sommer, is any sort of business relationship.

“Everything is square between Cybersocket and iBill, but there is no business relationship at this point,” Sommer said.

“We do not want them as a client.”

The hazy part of the picture remains exactly what is going on at Deerfield Beach, Florida-based iBill. The company was acquired by Interactive Brand Development (IBD) in late January, but has remained silent since.

Overtures made for comment on the Cybersocket suit were ignored by iBill.

However, iBill will have to take note eventually, as more legal action is reportedly on the way. AVNOnline.com has acquired information that a Miami-based law firm has been retained by two Adult companies and will be filing up to three separate suits against the processor.

The companies and a spokeswoman for the law firm declined comment until the situation has developed further.
