Naked News Reaches Out to European Cell Phones

Naked News, the news show where women take their clothes off as they read the day’s headlines, has expanded their reach by producing daily programming for European mobile phone customers.

“We are already a smash television hit in the U.K. and we see Europe as a growing audience for our content, which up to now has been mainly geared to North American audiences,” Naked News executive producer David Warga told AVNOnline.com.

European customers will get daily video segments in news, sports, entertainment, and possibly weather. The news is tailored to the region – for instance, the sports will feature soccer and F1 racing, rather than baseball or football. All content is being produced in Naked News’ home base of Toronto, except for European anchor Lily Kwan, who is based in London.

The service is already being beamed to users in The Netherlands via KPM, where it began airing on October 15.

Naked News is currently negotiating several deals with mobile operators throughout Europe and plans to bring mobile service to North America when mobile phone video technology improves, Warga said.

Naked News webcasts to more than 172 nations daily on the Internet and reaches a potential weekly television audience of 34 million in the United States and many more million viewers in the U.K., Australia, and several other countries. Naked News TV! is also available as Video-on-Demand (VOD) in more than 1.4 million hotel rooms in North America, the Caribbean, and Europe.
