Misty Beethoven: The Musical Coming to a Record Store Near You

On the first of June VCA Pictures will release a limited edition three-disk set of AVN Hall of Famer Veronica Heart’s musical interpretation of one of adult entertainment’s classic films, Henry Paris’ The Opening of Misty Beethoven.

Misty Beethoven: the Musical features a star-studded cast that sings original songs set to an original score by Romeo Lavelle, a musician who has never scored an adult video before. Mischa Allen, publicist for VCA, says that the soundtrack manages to escape the negative stereotype of adult music.

“It’s not that porny. It’s an excellent musical jaunt, a new direction for adult entertainment. I would hesitate to say that it’s like a Broadway musical; there’s a singing penis,” Allen told AVN.com. “It’s more like Broadway meets rock opera – let’s just call it a 'cockopera.'”

A number of performers sing during the musical and Allen says that some of them sing quite well.

“Evan (Stone) has a great voice and so does Julie (Meadows), but Sunset (Thomas) sings pretty good and so does Randy (Spears),” Allen said.

In fact VCA was so impressed with the soundtrack that not only will a CD of the music be included in the limited-edition three-disk set, they also licensed the rights for the music to Reality Entertainment, a record label distributed by Caroline Entertainment.

That means the soundtrack could be found in any record store in America once it is released as a CD on June 27. VCA will launch a campaign to garner airplay for tracks from the CD on morning radio across the country in June.

“Some of the music is certainly acceptable for radio, but it depends on the radio stations and the climate, but I think it will be well received,” Allen said.

The original The Opening of Misty Beethoven was first released in 1976, and remains popular even today – it’s currently one of VCA’s top sellers.

“It’s a classic. It stands far above what most of adult entertainment is, even today,” Allen explained. "It was a well-made movie in every respect."
