American Cannibal to Open in Los Angeles

The documentary American Cannibal will see its West Coast theatrical premiere Friday night at the Laemmle Grande (345 S. Figueroa St.) in downtown Los Angeles. The movie will play for a week, and continue showing, depending on box office numbers.

"After much East Coast fanfare, American Cannibal is opening in Los Angeles," said Kevin Blatt, a consultant and public relations specialist for the adult industry, who co-produced and starred in the documentary. "We've been getting some great press and we have some interesting fans of the film, [including] Dr. Phil and MTV's Kurt Loder."

"The documentary follows two TV show producers, Gil and Dave, as they go on their quest to produce a reality show," explained Blatt. "Along the way, the two writers pitch all of the major networks crazy story ideas and, in the end, are turned down…until they meet me, the crazy porn guy. I eventually help produce the TV show that this reality documentary is all about, called American Cannibal. We want to find out how far people will go for reality TV."

American Cannibal is a documentary as "wild as the story behind it: a shocking, hilarious, bona fide portrait of our celebrity-driven culture and the appalling lengths one will go to, for entertainment, according to its producers," the filmmakers said.
