HotMovies Launches Initiative to Benefit Black Trans Organization

PHILADELPHIA—In celebration of Pride Month and the civil rights movement currently underway, HotMovies.com is donating $500 to social justice organization The Marsha P. Johnson Institute and offering a free VOD minute for every dollar contributed to the group during June by its users.

To participate, email your donation receipt to [email protected].

The institute is dedicated to promoting and defending the human rights of the black trans community. It was named after Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson (also known as “Black Marsha”) who was a prominent figure in the Stonewall movement of 1969 and was an activist and drag queen who brought an underrepresented voice to the attention of the LGBTQ+ community.

Since its inception, the Marsha P. Johnson Institute has been a key supporter of the black trans community, a historically marginalized group that comes under a disproportionate amount of violence, harassment and prejudice. It focuses on advocacy, organization and community building.
