HOLLYWOOD—With the Oscars set to commence Sunday night in Tinseltown, trade outlet The Hollywood Reporter took the opportunity to lay out a side-by-side comparison of the year's biggest respective nights for mainstream cinema and the blue kind in a column today titled "'Oscars of Porn' vs. the Oscars: The Surprising Similarities."
Topped with a split image of the similar gold AVN Award and Academy Award statuettes, the piece by Scott Feinberg details a number of key facts and figures about both ceremonies, including the amount of categories presented, the policies regarding gifts to voters, the glitz and glamour of the red carpets and the high-profile artists who have provided musical performances.
Feinberg also quotes 2017 AVN Female Performer of the Year nominee Chanell Heart and AVN's own Dan Miller ... and though he incorrectly notes that "controversial figure" James Deen was not in attendance at this year's show, we won't take him to task over it.

Meanwhile, industry observer Susannah Breslin wrote a counterpoint article for Forbes.com arguing right in her headline that "Actually, The 'Oscars Of Porn' And The Oscars Are A Little Different." And while we appreciate the press, we will take her to task for, well, all three of her points:
1) "In porn, it's hard not to get nominated" — We can direct you to plenty of folks who would tell you differently, due to their zero nominations.
2) "Adult movies have better titles, and porn stars have better stage names" — Somehow not one title mentioned here was among the 15 nominated for Clever Title of the Year.
3) "XXX is more diverse, sort of" — Considering the principal issue at hand here is the "#oscarsowhite" debate, it's curious there's no mention of either our Best Male Newcomer or Best Non-Sex Performance winners (Ricky Johnson and Nyomi Banxxx, respectively), both African-American.
Nevertheless, that piece is available to read here.
