Standing off to one side, Hillary Scott relaxes as lights are being adjusted nearby.
While her costars chat, she smiles and says hello to some fellow starlets and crew members as they walk by. Scott’s smile and quiet demeanor are in contrast to some of the loud talk and laughter among many of those around her.
And it’s not by accident.
Wearing short shorts and a small top, Scott doesn’t blend into the background as she’d like.
“Sometimes people ask me if I’m alright, but I’m fine. I like sitting here and keeping to myself. It doesn’t bother me at all,” she says.
At 23, Scott has been one of the industry fast risers, having won the X-Rated Critics Organization’s award for New Starlet and Orgasmic Oralist in April. She also won the AVN awards for Best Oral Sex Scene - Film and Best Group Sex Scene - Film in January. With more than 100 titles to her credit, the Chicago-born performer is already getting the attention usually reserved for the most seasoned of performers.
It was just over 18 months ago that the then 21-year-old ex-loan officer found her way onto a porn set.
Looking slightly different, with shorter hair and a smaller chest, Scott was introduced to porn with an intense vaginal and anal pounding that would alter her career choice forever.
“I came out to L.A. to try it out for two weeks and I worked every day for two weeks,” she recalled.
“It was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. I thought the sex was going to be rougher and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to handle it, but after that I thought, ‘That’s all I have to do?’ So I said to my agent, ‘I’m going back home, packing my things and coming back to L.A.”

Leaving home wasn’t easy, but for Scott, the allure of sex, money and a chance to do something different was too much to ignore.
As one of two children, Scott grew up in a middle-class home with middle-class values. Although her parents divorced when she was very young, her mother remarried, giving her children a father figure to look up to. But even as a small child, Scott was an inquisitive but quiet girl who always followed her parents’ rules.
But at age 11, a curious thing happened: “My mom put in a cable TV in my room and I was watching Cinemax at night and I’d watch softcore porn and I remember watching and wondering when are they going to show the cock, so I’d watch every night, but they never showed it.”
Although she didn’t know how to masturbate, young Hillary began playing with her vagina.
“I had this urge to stick things inside me. I would grab my brother’s condoms and put them on top of random things like carrots, vegetables and cucumbers.”
But her experimentation didn’t end there. She and her stepsister would compare their naked bodies and would often make out, as if the other was one of the boys from the New Kids on the Block.

Making a Splash
In her first scene, an enthusiastic Scott teamed up with Mark Ashley, who saw a chance to show the newbie how to do a good anal scene.
“He was really nice and he walked me through it. He put on a gallon of lube."
Scott was soon hooked on her new career.
“Even though I had a high sex drive, it really took porn for me to get it out and go crazy with it.”
Veteran director Jim Powers knows firsthand how well Scott took to the porn industry.
“She’s dynamite. She has no fear and she just wants to do the best job she can,” he says.
“I had her do a bukkake and right afterward, she went into a sex scene with all the cum all over her and it didn’t bother her one bit. She was into it.”
Doing anal in her first scene wasn’t a stretch, having become an old hand at it with her previous boyfriend. But doing a double penetration was something else.
“I wasn’t ready to do one then, but I’m open minded and I ended up doing one about a year later.”
Starring in such titles as JM Productions' Attention Whores,Elegant Angel's Young and Filthy,VCA's Butt Blasted, Scott made her mark as a fearless performer willing to take chances.

Adventures in Anal
Known primarily for her anal scenes, Scott has made a career of her backdoor skills and ability to cum seemingly at will. With a high value put on good anal performers, Scott has seemingly written the book on anal performance.
“I started hearing a lot about how good I was at doing anal and it helped my confidence,” she says.
So much so that when she earned her XRCO Award for New Starlet, Scott thanked her asshole in front of a large enthusiastic crowd.
“I meant that," she says. "I don’t think I would have gotten that if it weren’t for my asshole.”
Leah Luv, a fellow performer and Scott’s best friend agrees.
“It is because of her asshole," she says. "She should thank her asshole because it’s the one responsible for a lot of her success.” Having done a number of scenes with Scott, Luv isn’t surprised by her friend’s rise.
“She’s just a great performer who knows a lot about making a scene great. She completely throws herself into it and seems to know where the camera is and what the director wants,” Luv says.
“Even though I’ve been in the business three years, she knows a lot more than I do and I ask her for advice. It’s because she’s so smart that she picks things up so easily. I mean, you can’t sell mortgages and work at a bank and not be smart.” But Scott downplays any notions of superiority above her fellow starlets. She instead credits her sex drive and some luck.
“I don’t feel like I have a job," Scott says. "I feel like I’ve been on vacation for the past year and a half. I’m actually having fun with it. I actually enjoy the performance. I’m a natural entertainer.
“In every scene I do, I feel like I’m in the mood for what I’m doing. Maybe I feel like having romanic anal sex that day, or I feel like hot, rough sex. Who knows? Sometimes, I do whatever it takes to get me off in that scene.”
So much so that she is known for amping up the raunch in many of her scenes such as JM Productions’ Garbage Pail Girls 2 where she takes a blistering anal pounding, as well as in Elegant Angel’s Anal Princess Diaries 2, where she outfucked Kelly Wells in a competition of who could take on the most men anally. That title is set for September.
But it’s not just about getting off. Scott often takes charge of her scenes with suggestions and even some ideas about camera angles and body positioning. It’s no wonder she recently directed her first gonzo feature and is hoping to do more.
For her childhood friend Johnny Minter, Scott’s success is well earned.
“She’s always worked hard at everything she tried, so I didn’t doubt she’d become big in porn or anything else she tried,” he says. “She’s really smart, but she’s also very opinionated and a crazy girl who likes to have a good time.”
Minter recalled how he and a teenage Scott enjoyed driving around town with a bullhorn and shouting at people or shooting squirt guns at them.
“It was all fun for her. She was a punk rock kind of chick back then.”
Skooby, her agent and owner of Fresh Talent Management, is perhaps Scott’s biggest industry booster.
“I don’t think I’ve seen anyone quite like her in the business,” he says.
“When she first got out here, I was telling her about how to do an anal scene and she didn’t want to hear it. She went to her first scene and pulled off a great anal scene. And this was her first scene ever. It was great.”
With a small stable of stars like Sammie Rhodes, Scott, Luv and others, Skooby knows what he has with this petite blonde.
“A great Hillary Scott story is one night when she had gotten off work and stayed up with a girl who got too drunk and in the morning woke her up so she could go to work," Skooby recalls. "But this girl was too sick, so even though she had a shoot that night, she called in and took this girl’s place… She showed up at 11:30 (in the morning) and shot till 11 at night, then went to her shoot which went on until 5 in the morning. And she didn’t complain once.”
Having signed on to take over the starring role in X-Play/Hustler Video's Britney Rears series last month, Scott says she was pleased to do the 1970s-themed, light-hearted romp based loosely on Britney Spears’ early career.
“I loved doing that whole retro thing with the 70s afros and all that stuff. I like doing different things," she says.
And with the lead role on Sex Z Pictures' Corruption being shot this week, Scott dug deep to play the role of downtrodden mistress to a powerful politician.
“I had to cry a lot and have several emotional meltdowns and it was hard," she says. "But I’ve been working a lot of hours and not getting much sleep… So a lot of that was real. It was very emotional for me.”
Avoiding the gossip
Even as her star continues to rise, Scott remains private and stays away from much of the drama that surrounds many young starlets.
“When I started getting popular I saw the evil side in everybody," she says. "The girls, my God. When I go to a party, the girls look at me like they know me somehow and the whole room stares at me. They look at me and say, ‘I heard this about you’ and I say ‘What the fuck are you talking about?’ I just take it as they’re trashing Hillary Scott. They have no idea who I am. I have totally put on this shield that I’m totally numb when it comes to the pettiness of the industry. I just don’t give a fuck.”
Although she still makes appearances at top industry events and some parties, Scott prefers to spend time with her close friends and see movies, go bowling, listen to music or simply hang out.
“I don’t watch porn and I don’t like talking about it all the time, but I’ll watch my movies to see if it came out the way I wanted,” she says.
Although her parents disagree with her career choice, Scott says they remain supportive of her and she often visits them and her brother in Chicago.
“But I’ve ruined porn for my brother. He says he can’t go to a video store anymore because he sees all my box covers.”
As for relationships, Scott isn’t in a hurry to start one. Having had her share with some industry types, Scott stays away from male talent. “My agent said not to date industry members and I should have listened to that," she says.
“Sometimes a guy will start asking and I play it off like ‘I’m just a tease or maybe later,’ but if they get pushy, I just say no. Some of the guys that have been in the industry a while realize that these girls probably wouldn’t fuck them if they weren’t paid to.”
While she has no plans to leave the business any time soon, Scott says she wouldn't be heartbroken if her career ended tomorrow.
“I don’t take things as seriously as others," she says. "I don’t feel pressure from anybody at all. If I’m not doing porn tomorrow, I can’t say I’ll be devastated as much fun as it is. I’ll just go do something else.”
