Groundbreaking Reverend Geoffrey Karen Dior Dies.

Bisexual GAYVN Hall of Fame director and performer Reverend Geoffrey Karen Dior, born Geoff Gann, died on August 25 of hepatitis after a long battle with AIDS. He was 37.

Dior was one of the first performers to come out as being HIV-positive—he was diagnosed in 1995—and to continue performing in adult videos.

When asked once how he wanted to be remembered, Dior replied, "For fighting, being a survivor, fighting for everything I've got and ever had. And for helping people and being a friend."

Son of a Missouri Republican state representative in a conservative Southern Baptist family, Dior was known for his drag performances as well as for directing gay, bi, transsexual and hetero tapes for Video 10, Vivid and other companies.

One of the few porn personalities to break into mainstream, he stirred up controversy by kissing Lucy Lawless on Xena: Warrior Princess, appeared as Kirstie Alley's look-alike on Veronica's Closet, and stalked Loni Anderson in The Price She Paid.

A memorial gathering is in the planning stages, as well as a fundraiser for his pet charities, to be held in February on or near his Valentine's Day birthday.
