Honey Gold keeps her success in perspective, expressing gratitude at every turn.
“Right now I personally am really surprised at how well things are going,” Gold tells AVN. “When it comes to opportunities in the adult industry and outside the adult industry, I’m astounded at how amazing this year has been considering the fact I also haven’t done any anal yet.”
Gold did more than arrive on the adult industry scene last year—she made a statement en route to an opening year as diverse as any performer has enjoyed in the past decade. Now some 22 months later, the 25-year-old native of San Francisco is becoming a force as she fields a steady stream of scene bookings and business propositions. But none of it has changed Gold’s humble attitude. Instead, the personable star, who made her porn debut in January 2017, is even more appreciative.
“I think the biggest thing that was I was taken aback by this year is the fact that I have officially inked my first deal with Doc Johnson,” Gold says.
The iconic sex toy giant at press time has closed a deal with Gold to create a signature toy collection for the gorgeous, mixed-race performer who is represented exclusively by OC Modeling.
“They approached my agent, and to this day I don’t understand why they wanted to collaborate with me. But I took a tour and inked a deal and I’m super excited about launching a very unique toy line for me,” says Gold, whose ethnic background is a mix of Cantonese, Black, Cherokee Indian, Mongolian and Irish.
“I still don’t know how to put it into words how I feel about that. I’m just a girl who goes to work every day. An opportunity like a toy deal is something every girl wants and everybody strives for in this industry.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable. It’s so incredibly humbling that they believe in me so much that they’re willing to invest in me as a person.”
Gold continues, “I’m not even in my second year yet but I still have those feelings like, ‘Am I good enough? Is this the end of the line for me?’ I am human and I have those feelings almost every day, like what can I do to be better; what can I do to be relevant? … Am I going to get these opportunities that other girls get?”
So far, so good for Gold, who starred in more than 50 movies this year for A-list studios such as Jules Jordan Video, TrenchcoatX, Adam & Eve, Wicked Pictures, Lisa Ann, Burning Angel, Brazzers, Naughty America and Digital Playground.
Gold landed a prominent acting role in director Stormy Daniels’ latest movie, T.I.T.S. Bouncing Above the Law, for Digital Playground. In the film, she plays Olive, a hotshot undercover detective hired to track down a stolen designer dildo collection.
“She’s an amazing director and performer, so I was completely in awe,” Gold says. “She gave me a very big part in the movie and she coached me and encouraged me. She definitely gives a lot of praise when it’s deserved. I did not feel I was ready for that, but she believed in me.”
Gold also appeared in Greedy Bitches, another upcoming movie from Digital Playground in which she joins co-stars Nicolette Shea, Kissa Sins, Karmen Karma, Lela Star and Quinn Wilde in a reverse gangbang with Xander Corvus—directed by François Clousot.
“There were a lot of high-profile names in this movie and for some reason they said, ‘Let’s put Honey in there.’ It’s a feature film that hasn’t been released yet and something I’m extremely proud and honored to be a part of. I didn’t ever think I would be able to be in a cast with such powerful and well-known performers.
“I feel like I’m that little kid just in awe to be in their presence and have sex with these people and stand side by side with them. That’s a dream come true.”
Speaking of living her dreams, Gold says she was beyond flattered to be asked to model for the 2018 AVN Show ad campaign.
“I did an interview on camera and they asked me what it meant to me and I literally started crying on camera,” Gold recalls. “It was a dream and it was a goal of mine from the first time I walked into the convention as a civilian. And for that to have happened this year, there is an emotional wrecking ball that is tied to that experience. For it to become a reality is absolutely ridiculous. AVN has been so supportive of me as a performer. And to be part of the November cover, it’s so hard to explain these types of things.
“That was one of my crowning achievements of this year. I will forever be thankful.”
Gold also performed with Gina Valentina for the directorial debut of platinum rapper Young M.A, who shot the scene for Pornhub’s Visionaries Directors Club.
“I was really happy to be part of that. Young M.A’s vision is absolutely amazing,” Gold says. “She’s so nice to work with. To be picked from hundreds of girls and have her direct something so raw and authentic, it was an honor. The feedback on it was absolutely amazing.”
Gold adds, “In that scene I feel like Gina honestly took a part of my soul. She will bring a certain level of sexuality out of you. She was someone I wanted to work with.
“I’m very humbled to have been part of it.”
