SAN FERNANDO, Calif.—A fundraising campaign was started earlier this month on GoFundMe.com for former adult performer Mac Turner, who is dealing with complications from a neuromuscular disease.
Turner compiled a little more than two dozen performing credits between 2004 and 2013, but is best known as the title character in 2011’s Rocki Whore Picture Show: A Hardcore Parody from Wicked Pictures.
The crowdfunding efforts are meant to help Turner cover the costs of some of the prescriptions needed to help him with body aches, tremors and more.
“Recently my doctors told me if my new treatment doesn't work, I have less than 8 months to live,” Turner wrote on the site. “I have a neuromuscular disease. I won't see my next birthday without this EXPENSIVE treatment. With my new insurance, they are unwilling to pay for some of my meds. They just won't approve some, because they expensive brand name prescriptions.”
The condition is the result of brain damage and other injuries suffered during a car crash when he was 19, Turner explained. Today, he said, he is too weak to walk without crutches, and oftentimes uses a wheelchair.
The fundraiser, which can be found here, has a goal of $10,000.
In an effort to help raise funds, Brad Armstrong—who directed Turner in Rocki Whore—is offering an incentive for people to donate. Armstrong tweeted that anyone who donates $50 or more to the GoFundMe for Turner has a chance to win a copy of Rocki Whore, as well as props from the movie.
