Gimme an X! Courtney Simpson Goes from Pom Poms to Porn Star

Walking through a local mall, Courtney Simpson can’t help but peek through the shop windows.

“I love to shop. I guess I can’t help it,” says the petite blonde as she walks past a local boutique.

“But I’m picky too. I don’t like to throw money away on just anything,” she says as she walks past a man who gets an eyeful as he glances at the form-fitting, ripped, low-rise jeans she wears.

Getting attention isn’t new for Simpson who this month is marking her first full year in the industry by being one of the most prolific newcomers in years.

“I read that I made 182 movies. I’m kind of shocked by that, but I guess it’s true.”

With other newcomers racking up just a few dozen movies in a year, Simpson is on a tear by comparison, working four to five days a week and quickly becoming one of the industry’s most sought-after talents.

“She’s got the all-American look of being blond, pretty and with cheerleader looks that everyone loves,” says her agent, Derek Hay, owner of L.A. Direct Models.

“But it’s not just her look. She has a great attitude and is great to work with.”

At 5-foot-2 and 100 pounds, Simpson’s compact size doesn’t betray the enthusiasm and intensity she brings to her scenes, that some say is reminiscent of a veteran performer.

But for Simpson, it’s not about work or simply trying to do a job.

“I really love what I do and I love to fuck,” she said, with a smile.

It was just last year that the then college freshman joined the industry as a part-time job to make some extra money.

“I was tired of depending on my parents and I wanted to make money on my own,” she says.

So when she saw an ad for nude modeling, Simpson saw her chance to do what she loved – have sex.

“I loved sex and to get paid for it was great.”

The Cheerleading Squad

An honor student from a devout Mormon family, Simpson entered Arizona State University as a virgin and with not so much as an afterthought about an adult film career.

“I really thought I would only have sex after I got married,” she says, as she sits at a local restaurant.

Simpson’s at ease telling of her college days as the waiter brings her plate, stealing a glance at her perfectly made up face and well-brushed hair, which she acknowledges with a smile.

It’s easy to see how the then boy-crazy Simpson joined the ASU cheerleading squad where she was quickly known as “Triple X” by squad members for her constant talk about sex.

“I was always talking about it, even though I wasn’t doing it,” she says.

“My friends were telling me that I wasn’t going to (stay a virgin) past December. I only lasted until October.”

Although she wasn’t promiscuous, Simpson managed her share of hookups in between exams and cheerleading gigs.

“I was just a normal college student, really,” she says today.

“I’d seen these ads before for nude models and I found this one where the people were really nice,” she says.

She was soon featured in the Amateur Allure Web site, giving a blowjob to a complete stranger, before moving on to do similar shoots for other sites.

Her longtime friend Jennifer Schaunaman at first opposed Simpson’s move into porn, but soon realized she could do little to change her mind.

“Obviously, it’s not the career choice I would have picked out for her, but it’s her choice,” Schaunaman said.

“She has a life outside her profession and she doesn’t want it to consume her so as long as it makes her happy, I’m happy.”

Soon, Simpson was featured on her own nude Web site, under the name of Cory Heart. Although she had little to do with the site, Simpson’s popularity grew. She was intrigued by her part-time porn career, but picking a name wasn’t easy at first.

“I didn’t want my name to sound porno. I was a college student so I wanted a normal name, and I look like a Courtney, so I use Courtney, my real name,” she says.

“And I didn’t want to use my real last name because I have too much respect for my family, so I picked Simpson because I like Jessica Simpson.”

Going Hardcore

In her new guise, Simpson began making hardcore videos in the San Fernando Valley, thanks to a chance encounter with a woman who claimed she was an adult industry agent in Arizona.

“It turned out she didn’t really know what she was doing, so I got connected with L.A. Direct,” she recalled.

Once there, L.A. Direct owner Hay took Simpson under his wing and pushed her career forward, picking and choosing just which directors and companies could best serve his new starlet.

Although the 19-year-old blonde began flying back and forth between Arizona and Los Angeles, she realized she would soon have to make a choice between her burgeoning career and her education.

“People were already recognizing me from Amateur Allure and then someone printed out a stack of pictures of me and left it on the doorstep at home and I got in trouble for it,” she said.

“I realized then that I couldn’t stay in Arizona any more.”

She then began taking classes online and moved to Los Angeles where she took to the work like never before.

“I really got into it and it was fun. I love fucking on camera,” she says.

Although her parents opposed the move, Simpson was committed to making a go of her new stardom.

“I’ve always been a super sexual person and I always talked about sex a lot and did everything but sex. But once I started doing, it I loved it. I get to cum and get paid,” she says.

In her first movie through L.A. Direct, she performed her first scene with veteran Kurt Lockwood. Though apprehensive at first, Simpson lost all her inhibitions as she came hard for the first time on camera.

“I ended up getting on the box and I found out what working for a real company was like,” she says.

“It was a lot of fun. I had my first orgasm (on camera) with Kurt so he definitely knows how to do things.” As a new girl, Simpson began to get a reputation for her enthusiasm and for her ability to heat things up with wild abandon.

Using her skills from her younger days as a gymnast and cheerleader, Simpson’s flexibility allows her to body to stretch in ways most starlets wouldn’t dare try.

“I love it when guys put me upside down or have me hanging off them to have sex,” she said.

As her career began to take off, Simpson relished in the attention and increasing work coming her way.

“I’ve always worked hard at everything I did, so I didn’t realize that I was doing so much,” she says.

Among her titles are Trophy Whores, by Evil Angel, Legal & Hot, by Metro, Double Gulp, by American Hardcore and scores of others.

Besides working with companies like Red Light District, Wicked, Vivid and New Sensations, Simpson also became a favorite of softcore producers selling to HBO and Cinemax.

“I love to do those because it gives you a chance to act.”

But even as her career was in high gear, Simpson felt estranged from her family who were opposed to her new life. Although she eventually returned to their good graces, her porn life remains an unspoken issue between them.

“I fuck different guys every day, but they don’t really know that’s what I’m doing. They know I do porn, but I don’t think they can fathom that I work every day and that I do all this stuff.”

Newspaper Stirs Controversy

It was just last fall when the Arizona Republic printed an article critical of Simpson for using an ASU cheerleading uniform during a sex scene for Gina Lynn’s Double Dutch. The article prompted the school to fire off a letter to Gina Lynn Productions, demanding the scene be excised from the movie. The issue was later settled when the ASU lettering was blurred out from the movie.

But the incident doesn’t bother Simpson, who says she’s glad it happened since it gave her needed publicity.

“At first I was nervous when everything was initially going on, but now I’m actually glad because I got some extra mainstream publicity since people that don’t normally watch porn now know who I am,” she says.

Even as the controversy continued, Simpson was busy as ever, shooting five to six days a week, with little time off and bookings sometimes months ahead of time.

Veteran director Manuel Ferrara says Simpson’s hard work and dedication has given her a status nearly unheard of among non-contract stars.

“People love to work with her and they have her coming back all the time,” he says.

“She’s beautiful and a really sweet girl who is always working as hard as she can.”

Such sentiments aren’t lost on 20-year-old Vivid Girl Stefani Morgan.

“She’s such a sweetheart and is just a bundle of energy,” said Morgan, who goes girl-on-girl with Simpson in her starring vehicle, Rawhide, set for release on April 5.

“When I met her, I didn’t know how long she’d been in the business because she was so excited, but that’s what’s nice about her. She gets excited about work.”

For Simpson, it’s also about having fun at work.

Rawhide was my first feature where they gave me dialogue so I was excited about playing Stefani’s friend,” she says.

Relationship Time

But as a performer, Simpson sometimes found it difficult finding time for her personal life. Dating was often hit and miss.

“I wasn’t into porn guys, but athletes or guys in bands,” she said.

But it didn’t take long for Simpson to find current boyfriend Jason Cox. The two hit it off when Cox was driving her from booking to booking as a driver for L.A. Direct.

“He was really nice and it turned out he was from Arizona too,” she said.

The two quickly became an item as Cox himself abandoned driving for performing in adult movies as well.

“When she goes to work, I know it’s work and I’m fine with that,” he said.

“She won’t do more than boy/boy/girl and we don’t go into details about work. We know each other’s boundaries.”

Even so, having sex for a living gives Simpson a steady stream of potential suitors.

“Sometimes guys I was doing a scene with would drop hints, but I’d politely say that I couldn’t. And when they still didn’t get it, I’d have to tell them ‘No! I have a boyfriend!’”

Even as she performs a variety of scenes, including blowjobs, deep-throating, two-on-ones and girl/girl, Simpson puts limits on what she will do.

“I don’t do anal and I won’t let a guy cum in my pussy. I save that for my boyfriend,” she says.

“It’s more intimate when a guy cums inside you.”

No Regrets - Almost

As Simpson sits back in her chair, she thinks for a moment before taking a sip of water.

“I have only one regret. Doing that first scene,” she says of her first gonzo scene upon arriving in Los Angeles.

“I don’t like to talk about that. It was just bad. But beyond that, I’m happy with my decisions.”

Having saved much of her money, Simpson is ready to move out from the apartment she shares with four other starlets from L.A. Direct. But it isn’t easy, given the camaraderie the five have shared, she says.

And as her career continues to surge, Simpson is optimistic about the future. Forming her own production company, developing mainstream projects and marketing her own line of products are just some of the options, she says.

“When I was a kid, I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, an Olympic ice skater and a movie star. I wanted to be a little bit of everything,” she says.

“But I was a gymnast for 10 years and even won nationals on the bar one year, but… I was burned out from all that. And now, I’m happy where I am. I know I can’t do this forever, but I’m happy right now.”
