LOS ANGELES - Last night, the porn star who (nearly) started it all, Georgina Spelvin, gave longtime fans a chance to get up close and personal with the star of such classics as The Devil In Miss Jones (DMJ) 1 & 2, 3 A.M., Babylon Pink and Desires Within Young Girls.
The event, which took place at the popular Book Soup bookstore on Sunset Boulevard, was the release of Spelvin's autobiography, The Devil Made Me Do It, and included Spelvin reading selected passages from the book, then signing autographs for more than an hour, as the line of fans and curiosity-seekers stretched around the store.
While much of the beginning of the book is taken up with Spelvin's experiences almost inadvertently breaking into porn, adventures on the set of DMJ and her interactions with director Gerard Damiano, there's also plenty of information about her personal life, her lovers, her mainstream and theatrical work, and even her interactions with the pet boa constrictor that formed part of her striptease routine.
Of course, the autograph-seekers had plenty of questions, and one of Spelvin's revelations to a fan was that she had been Shirley MacLaine's "dancing double" during the filming of director Bob Fosse's acclaimed Sweet Charity (1969).
The event drew several friends from the adult industry. Nina Hartley nodded sagely as Spelvin told the audience about her life, and toward the end, Raven Touchstone showed up with Bionca Seven. Touchstone confirmed that she and Bionca would be shooting more content for the Henri Pachard Reduxxx project this weekend.
