CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Powersville and JM Productions are set to release Little Runaway 2, the long-awaited sequel to director Jim Powers' XXX punk rock classic.
According to an official release from JM, Powers hopes the movie will drive the final nail into the coffin of the so-called 'alt-porn' genre.
“You see, this is a punk movie," said Powers. “It's punk porn. The ‘alt’ people say stuff like ‘hey, this isn’t just a porn movie – it’s arty, it’s alt.’ Well fuck art, and fuck alt. This is not pretty porn; it’s about hardcore fucking.”
Released in 2001, the original Little Runaway was a XXX remake of Penelope Spheeris' Suburbia. Powers' movie introduced Rob and Rachel Rotten and even featured D.I. ("Richard Hung Himself,") one of the bands from the Spheeris film.
Little Runaway 2 continues the crusty, anarchic tradition of its predecessor with a storyline loosely based on the lore of the 1980s L.A. punk scene.
"Way back in the early '80s, there were tons of gangs in the scene – there was a gang called the Droogs that used to beat up kids at punk shows," Powers told AVN. "They took this sort of 'Clockwork Orange' look from all these pseudo-hooligans in England, bands like Blitz. Eventually, the Circle One guys beat the shit out of them and the droogs disappeared. The movie is about a war between the skinheads and the droogs."
Rob Rotten served as assistant director of the sequel and brought along real-life panhandling punk chick Daisy Tanks to star in the movie.
Unlike the majority of porno scenesters attempting to co-opt punk rock as a marketing tool, Powers has played in punk bands for over 20 years. Little Runaway 2 features live performances by Powers' band Killroy, Bad Samaritans, Politikal Dekline, Kill Detail, The Last Priority, Homewrekers and HIV. The DVD comes with a soundtrack disc with 19 bands including Circle One and Peter & the Test Tube Babies ("Run Like Hell").
Powers shot one of the most outrageous scenes in Little Runaway 2 in September when his band was playing a gig with Sham 69 at the Ventura Theater.
"I took everybody up there in a bus, loaded up with all these bukakke boys," Powers said. "Whoever had a test could fuck and suck Desire Moore. This is the most insane scene you will ever see. It looks like a true gang bang – they’re not just normal porno guys. You can actually see her soul leave her eyes."
Another scene with Heather (aka Paris) Gables features one hundred extras. As JM publicist Tony Malice described it, Gables "takes on a skinhead in a gagging, ass-fucking, beer-drenched squat party as one hundred street scum punks look on and throw beer (and punches) at each other."
Powers and company will celebrate the release of Little Runaway 2 on March 8 at 8 p.m. at The Airliner in Lincoln Heights, CA. The party will feature degenerate "kissing booths" and live sets from G.G. Elvis & The TCP Band, Killroy, G.F.I. and Scheisse Minelli. The movie will screen at 11:30 p.m.
