Olivia Lua had always wanted to do porn (“I thought it was amazing”) but was afraid to get involved so she stayed with webcam modeling “until I was sure in my decision.” She finds production different from webcamming because “on webcam I could see myself. I was in control of the camera. In the industry, I don’t. That took a time to get used to.”
Lua’s first scene was shot when she was on a California vacation. She gave her friend Cadence Lux a ride to a set, and “I said, ‘Cadence, I’m so jealous.’ [Cadence] said, ‘Here’s the address for Talent Testing, here’s my agent’s number.’ I was shooting the next day for ATK,” doing solo scenes and a girl/girl with Tiffany Watson.
So far, she says, the best work she’s done were the early scenes for Reality Kings and Mofos: “Moving In” and “Girlfriend’s Revenge” for Reality Kings and “Money Talks” for Mofos. She’d like to work with Kissa Sins and also with Kink.com: “They’re sadly out of the Armory now, but I’d still love to work for them. I’d like to do the Upper Floor or be a submissive for Divine Bitches. Greg Lansky is also on my list.”
Lua’s first favorite performer was Sasha Grey: “She was intellectual. She knew why she was in the industry. She had a goal. She was very extreme, very real to herself. The things that she was into, her kinks and her fetishes, I was into those as well.”
The apple tattoo on her shoulder was her mother’s idea. “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. My sister and I were to get apples, and she would have a tree, but she decided to match us.” The +/- tattoo honors the song “Positive Negative” by Modest Mouse “but the full words are just way too long, so I got the symbols.”
Her words to live by: “This too shall pass.”
