LOS ANGELES—As the daughter of punk rock parents from Newbury Park, Calif., Megan Mistakes grew up surrounded by music, movies and the arts.
So, once she turned 18, the artsy kid with a penchant for painting discovered the world of camming after her school friends encouraged her to do it as a good way to pay her college tuition. With a love for animals and the arts, she planned to eventually become an artist or a veterinarian, so this new endeavor would be a means to an end.
But as her camming success grew, the tall brunette with model looks found herself re-examining her career path.
“I started at a webcamming studio and I was only there for six months,” she said. “I was living with my mom at the time and I moved out with my friends. I left my studio and I started doing it independently and during the pandemic, I decided to go further in the industry and figure out what I wanted to do.”
As she began collaborating with many successful cam models, her fanbase grew along with her notions of shooting porn with adult production companies. But when the pandemic hit and shut down nearly everything, including porn shoots, Mistakes found herself adjusting to the new reality.
When the world began opening up again in 2021, she began shooting with a friend who also directed and produced content and who also encouraged her to venture out to Los Angeles and shoot professional porn.
With her camming back in high gear and a growing list of clients who continued to show their support for her efforts, she eventually agreed to come to Los Angeles and take a stab at the porn business.
“Most of the people I’ve experienced in the industry have always been super friendly and I’m the kind of person that if you give me an inch, I’ll be able to talk to you, and that’s mostly my personality,” she said, “and that’s why I’ve been webcamming for so long. Because it’s not even about how you look, it’s how you’re able to hold a conversation.”
After shooting for indie production brand ForPlay, where she was done up in makeup and wore costumes to play a character, she knew she was hooked.
Today, with several studio shoots in the pipeline and a heavy schedule of camming and content shoots with a variety of popular cam models and adult performers, Mistakes is growing her brand on various fronts.
As for the kind of porn she likes to do most, she was quick to answer: “I really like groups. That was something that I was really scared of doing. I did it two times and I thought ‘this is actually a lot of fun,’” she said. “So between the three I actually prefer groups, than like boy/girl or girl/girl.
“It sounds really hard to film, but I think I like it because I like being able to move between people… because you’re like, ‘OK, I’m going to switch over here.’”
She also likes porn parodies.
“I think it’s hilarious,” Megan said. “I would say I just like when porn is a little silly.”
