LOS ANGELES—Even though Jennie Rose was raised in a “very conservative” Asian household, she remembers how she always “had a foul mouth and made sexual jokes.”
“I think personally I’ve always been a very sexual person since I was young, even growing up with Christianity and all these different ideas about the way I should be in this society,” Rose says.
The emerging Korean American star admits she got creative with her masturbation back in the day—sometimes she used cucumbers.
“Sex just felt natural to me,” Rose recalls. “I lost my virginity at 17 and I had an orgasm when I lost my virginity.”
Now the multi-talented artist knows who she is, what she wants and how to get it.
“I want to go have all types of social experiences and forget about the societal stigmas against it,” Jennie tells AVN. “I became more brave about pursuing more of what I enjoy doing in life.”
That includes her splashy entry into the porn business, where she already has made an impression in several high-profile scenes since debuting last fall.
“I have my full focus on porn,” Jennie says. “I love the industry, I really love it.”
It shows.
“I’m really good at three things in life—fucking, cooking and painting—and exactly in that order,” Rose says with a laugh.
She landed in the right place as The Jennie Rose Era in adult has begun.
“I love having sex,” Jennie says. “During the pandemic I was masturbating so much—for like five hours a day because we couldn’t go outside. So I kept watching all these porns.”
Now represented exclusively by East Coast Talent for bookings, she tells AVN, “I’m a big nerd.”
“I studied the market a lot,” Jennie says. “I watched so many porns. And I thought I’m a lot prettier than a lot of girls on the screen, my body is really nice and the industry is lacking a lot of Asian talent right now. I haven’t seen anyone like me other than Asa Akira. I thought I would go really far in this industry and have a lot of fucking fun doing it.”
Rose says she’s also “very lucky” to have met with Vixen Media Group co-founder Mike Miller early on to discuss the business.
“I knew I wanted to worked with Vixen,” she says. “I just studied so much and knew I wanted to work with them. One of my friends had contacts with one of their photographers and he shared my portfolio with Vixen’s owner. They liked my look and we got on phone an hour after he saw my Instagram profile. The next day we sat down for three hours talking.”
So far Rose has appeared on VMG’s Slayed with Lulu Chu; Deeper with Ryan Driller; and Blacked Raw with Anton Harden with more scenes to come.
Rose says she watched several of Chu’s scenes before they met.
“She’s super down to earth,” Jennie says. “She’s funny and witty and super nice. I would love to work with her again.”
When she arrived on set for Deeper, Rose says, “I was single and I was ready to fuck.”
“I had an amazing time,” Jennie says. “I had an awesome director in Kayden Kross and my co-star Ryan Driller was so good looking. He was so nice and gentle and super awesome to work with."
Rose didn’t know who the three-time AVN Director of the Year Kross was prior to being booked for “Portrait.”
“When I met her she literally showed me how to act every single line by line and she wrote the story based on my passion in life. I actually drew the portrait of Ryan Driller,” Rose says. “So the care and detail from Kayden Kross was beyond exceptional and I’m forever grateful.”
About two months before Jennie did her first work for VMG, she did several scenes with HotGuysFuck “because I wanted to learn.”
Now Rose is building momentum as she enters the summer months with multiple credits for Delphine, Jerkaoke, Team Skeet, MYLF—and eight scenes for VR Bangers with four others coming.
“I love shooting for VR, the POV-style type of feel,” she says.
When Rose refers to her conservative background, she isn’t kidding—her father is a pastor and so is her grandpa.
“So there are no nude photos of me anywhere else prior to porn,” she says. “I grew up very conservative. There was no OnlyFans, nothing sexual or remotely close.”
Born in South Korea, Rose lived in the Philippines from 1-3 years old and then moved back to Seoul and Kongju. She relocated to Chicago when she was around 10, attending middle school and high school in Illinois and going to college at DePaul, where she earned degrees in Business Entrepreneurship and Fine Arts.
Jennie says that no one in her family knows she’s doing porn—yet.
“In eight months, they will know,” Rose said in March. “I’m writing a book and I will hand it to my mom when I’m done. It’s about me and my journey and why I decided to enter into the porn industry and why I think it’s OK.
“It talks about feminism and it talks about the social, cultural shift, the sea changes. And there is a little apology letter to my mom. She’ll be disappointed but she’ll be OK. There will be a lot of failed love stories. She’ll learn how to understand me afterward.”
Jennie continues, “I think another reason I decided to go do porn is you look at lot of people in the industry and they come from a broken family.
“My story is not much different than that, except I finished school. My father and mom, they divorced when I was 17 and I haven’t seen him since. Although he’s a pastor, he’s a very troubled man… I write more about that in my book.
“I left home when I was 17 when they divorced and I’ve been completely independent since. [My mom] doesn’t really have a lot of say in what I do, but she definitely didn’t expect me to be a porn star.”
When Jennie left home as a junior she lived with her friend and her dad. She did a lot of community service dating back to her early teen years in Chicago; she worked for a Korean cultural program and later became a youth leader at Camp Pride, engaging with many Korean adoptees.
“And then I worked at a restaurant as a server,” she adds. “I would pay rent. I was fully independent.”
When Jennie first moved to LA in 2017, her primary intention was to pursue art—which she has done.
“I wanted to be an artist… I thought about moving to Las Vegas or Miami, but LA is a good place to start doing art,” she explains. “A good friend of mine was here and we started to grow our dreams together. The weather was the best here so I moved…”
Rose began drawing at an early age and then started painting in high school around the time she left home. She calls her style of art abstract expressionism. While in LA she worked as a resident artist at a couple art galleries.
“I use mixed media,” Jennie says. “I also started a building space. I built a whole space, DIY style.”
Located in downtown LA, she makes her creative studio available for rent.
“We host events,” Jennie says. “We hosted a wedding there. We host fundraising events, birthday events, different types of parties. It’s more of a unique events place.”
Prior to adult, the enterprising Rose also ran her own clothing and car rental businesses—the latter of which she had for three years.
She started cooking when she was in second grade and also does pottery.
“I’m good with my hands,” Jennie says.
Rose tells AVN she’s selective about her sex scenes, working with "only the top 30 channels that I pick and choose” as a rule.
“Not just cheap porn,” she says. “I love getting fucked like a whore, like a proper whore scene. I only have sex with male talents I want to have sex with.”
She says her first few months in porn almost don’t count because she didn’t start her OnlyFans until after doing her first scene with Vixen Media Group.
“So I’m starting with December-January-February-March,” Rose reasons.
In the future, Jennie plans to launch her own line of merch.
“It’s going to smell like me, like a rose perfume,” she says. “They can spray it and smell me when they use my Fleshlight.”
