LOS ANGELES—Avery Cristy calls her adult industry journey so far “a life-changing experience to say the least.”
“I'm very, very happy with my choice of joining the industry,” Cristy tells AVN.
The 20-year-old native of Dayton, Ohio, who was recruited through social media by World Modeling talent coordinator Matt Morgia last fall, had never done any kind of sex work, modeling or dancing before making her porn debut in October.
“So jumping into the industry was a big leap for me, but I've always had kind of an adaptive personality. So I conformed really quick and kind of caught onto things,” Cristy says.
Did she ever.
Cristy at press time had about 40 performing credits, emerging as one of 2020’s rising new girls to watch on the strength of a body of work that already includes several scenes for Vixen Media Group’s portfolio of high-profile websites. The All-American performer also has credits for Digital Sin, Nubiles, Naughty America, Team Skeet, FTV Girls, GirlCum, Cum4K, Amateur Allure and Swallowed, among others.
Before Cristy took her first trip to LA, she had already agreed to a contract for Vixen Media Group in which she signed on to perform in an undisclosed amount of scenes. That deal has since been extended.
“I've always kind of been a confident person, but that really boosted my confidence,” Cristy says.
She recalls how she connected with World Modeling, the oldest talent agency brand left in adult entertainment that was opened in 1976 by Jim South.
“Matt found my Instagram and had been messaging me for a couple weeks but they were all going into my spam,” Cristy says.
But Morgia didn’t give up.
“And he messaged me on Twitter,” she says. “And we kind of talked for a little while. I was kind of skeptical at first.”
Cristy did her homework over the next couple weeks, making sure World Modeling was legit before deciding to give porn a shot.
“Once I did all my research I was like, ‘Why not? It'd be a cool experience,’” she says. “I mean everybody loves sex. Who doesn't love sex and who doesn't want to get paid for it?’”
“I think she’s doing great,” Morgia tells AVN, noting that only the industry shutdown could’ve interrupted the momentum she had going into the spring. But despite the shoot cancellations, Cristy landed her first two magazine covers—for Hustler’s May/June issue of Taboo and the July issue of Barely Legal, while also recently extending her Vixen agreement to include all her boy/girl scenes.
“Avery was fully booked up and when she had just gotten to LA [in March], FSC called for the moratorium.”
Still, Cristy in recent weeks has been featured in ad campaigns for Vixen both in print and online, not to mention she was among the group of adult performers selected to appear in the viral music video for G Eazy’s “Still Be Friends” that featured Tyga and Tory Lanez.
“She loves the branding,” Morgia says.
Cristy traveled overseas in January to shoot for VMG’s European crew led by producer/director Julia Grandi, who hosted her on a Caribbean island.
“I absolutely loved her. She was so good to me,” Cristy says. “The whole team was good to me. … I had an amazing time being [in the Carribean] and I would do it over 10 times if I could.
“It's one of the best experiences I've had so far in the industry. Vixen has treated me very well.”
Grandi, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, who is also the owner of the Budapest, Hungary-based JulModels talent agency, tells AVN, “Working with Avery was an absolute blast.”
“After checking her work for Tushy with the U.S. team we called her to our Caribbean production for three scenes and it was one of best decisions I made for that trip,” Grandi says. “Avery delivered amazing performances. She is not just a gorgeous-looking model but also her acting skills made me name her ‘Best Starlet’ on my production.
“It felt like she really enjoyed staying with us and we had a connection—and that brought us to the result of making amazing scenes.
“I can’t wait to have her back on my movies because her potential is so huge that I am sure we will do award-winning scenes in the near future. If you haven’t checked out Avery’s scenes yet, my advice is to do it as soon as possible because she is absolutely a top adult performer and not to be missed!”
One of Cristy’s dance partners in Europe was Italian stud Christian Clay for Tushy. Cristy calls Clay “a comedian—a very comical guy.”
The veteran performer from Naples—who has more than 1000 performing credits since 2001, tells AVN, “Avery is one of the best new starlets I ever worked with.”
“She is gorgeous,” Clay says. “She has a very nice character. She’s always smiling. She has an amazing body and a wonderful performance. I really love this girl.”
Clay adds, “I can stay hours to speak about her.”
A go-to guy for Vixen and Tushy in Europe, Clay formerly owned a company that facilitated sports betting with multiple offices.
“I was doing very well but I always loved girls and sex,” Clay jokes. “I guess I was born for sex.”
Aside from a couple of fast-food jobs prior to adult, Cristy made a living in the healthcare field.
A state-tested nurse’s assistant, Cristy worked for a traveling nursing agency, holding down PRN—or per diem—shifts at different health care facilities throughout Ohio.
“Mostly long-term care facilities, like nursing homes and stuff like that,” she says. “And I fill in for the companies whenever they're short staffed. I take care of my old folk.”
She comes from a family of healthcare pros.
“My mother and my grandmother were both healthcare workers when I was younger,” she says. “My mother actually still works in healthcare as well. And I've always just had that characteristic about me where I've always been a giver. I've always wanted to help other people in any kind of aspect that they may need, especially health-wise.
”On top of that, the human body has always sort of been a fascination of mine. I've just always been fascinated with the human body and the anatomy and physiology of everything.
"... And when I went into my junior year of high school I had an opportunity to go to a career tech center where I worked. I finished out my last two years of high school and simultaneously went through my nursing program to obtain my CNA. So that when I graduated high school [in May 2018], I went straight into healthcare.”
Before embracing the medical field, Cristy was a hostess at a sports bar. She also took a job at Taco Bell for about five months. That burned her out on fast-food gigs, so then she helped out on the front desk and in the kitchen at a hotel where her father worked to make extra cash.
“Once I left the hotel, I kind of just focused on school," she says. "And that's when I really got serious about my healthcare."
Cristy did her first anal scene for Tushy with three-time AVN Male Performer of the Year Mick Blue, the Austrian deal-closer whom Cristy had never heard of before performing with him.
“The director was Derek [Dozer] and he asked me, ‘Do you want me to have Mick come up here so you guys can meet and kind of get a feel for each other?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, please,'" she recalls.
“Because I had heard so many good things about Mick but I'd never met him and I didn't want to just walk into the scene and be like, ‘OK, let's do it.’ I kind of wanted to get a feel for him at first. But when I met Mick it was just instant—instant chemistry. He was great. Very friendly. Very gentle with me. I remember I kept telling him, ‘Just be careful with me.’ And he was like, ‘I’ve got ya.' He definitely did.”
Cristy has also worked with veteran Spanish heartthrob Ramon Nomar for Digital Sin.
“I did a Christmas scene. That one was awesome. He’s a very sweet guy,” she says. “I’ve been very blessed. I've had a lot of good people on my side. A lot of people who have reached out and they're like, ‘Hey, if you need anything or need any help or have any questions, let me know.’ And it's really helped me to warm up to the industry quick.”
When she isn’t working, Cristy loves being in the outdoors.
“I love going hiking and taking walks. Nature just in general has always been a very big part of my life,” she says. “I was always raised camping and going on trips. ... I also like to journal. I like to write my thoughts down because I’ve got a lot of stuff that goes on in this brain up here.
“... And I like to read. I think the two ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ books are probably my favorite in my collection right now.”
Sometimes she’ll paint with water colors and during the quarantine she learned to play the ukulele "for my new quarantine hobby." She bought one off of Amazon.
“I learned about three songs within the first two or three weeks of having it. I used to play violin in middle school, too. I played violin for three years. So I feel like that kind of gives me a head-start with the instrument world," Cristy says.
Her favorite book genre is mystery.
"One of my favorite books I've ever read was called ‘Dead to You' by Lisa McMann," Cristy reveals. “The suspense genre and mysteries and crime. Those are definitely my favorite.”
