LOS ANGELES—Amber Moore just broke into the adult industry in February, and so far, it’s had to be a part-time job. In fact, the new Matrix Models signing spends the rest of her time in a more routine activity — high school. At age 18, she is on track to graduate with her diploma in June.
But Moore has harbored ambitions to work in the industry for several years, she told AVN, and shortly after her 18th birthday in December, she opened an account on SexyJobs.com, an adult industry job board. From there, things moved fast.
She was not able to begin working in the industry for about another month, however, because she was waiting for her documentation that she was, indeed, legally eligible for adult work.
“It took almost three weeks for my ID to come in the mail, because everything’s backed up at the DMV,” she said.
In the meantime, she continued to work toward finishing her senior year of high school in Nevada, where at press time in March her school has reopened for in-person classes, but only on alternate days, as students switch back and forth between online remote learning, and physical attendance. Moore hasn’t kept her new extracurricular activity a secret from her classmates, however, and says that she has found a mostly welcoming reception.
“It’s working out pretty well, because before I even got into it I told a few friends around me that I was going to do that. Some of them either thought I was joking or they didn’t believe me. And some of them were like, ‘OK, go for it!’” she recalled. “Now that I’m in it, they’re like, ‘You’re making your money. Good for you.’ I haven’t really got any hate or anything. There are maybe one or two people who have called me a slut because I didn’t want to send them a picture for free.”
Moore’s experiences in the industry have so far been positive as well — though there have been a few eye-openers, she told AVN.
“I’ve worked with a lot of good actors, I like it,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that are new to me, too. Like all the little fetishes and certain people’s turn-ons.”
But she says that though there have not been too many surprises for her, there have been a few things she wasn’t expecting. “I put myself into it, so I already knew what’s going to go down. I did not expect — OK, it’s a little weird, but I didn’t expect there would be really, really big dicks!” she laughs.
There has been nothing so far to give her second thoughts about continuing to pursue her career in the adult business. Quite the opposite, in fact. She says that she hopes her tenure in the industry “goes on for as long as I can keep it going.” But she realizes that careers in the industry are generally not forever.
“I can’t do this the rest of my life, and I know that,” she said. “I’m hoping I can use the money I make and put it towards something bigger. I do want to go to beauty school. I’d like to get into doing nails and skin care, and also hair if I can.”
Though she is still young and just starting out in the business, Moore wants people to know that she is not naive — and that she has very clear ideas about her work in the adult industry.
“I do want people to know that doing what I do is completely safe, and the way that I’m doing it is, I have an agent who books me, and I pay him to protect me from putting me in something I shouldn’t be doing,” she said. “I really enjoy my job. Doing this is part of my happiness.”
