Fresh Faces: Ayumi Anime

LOS ANGELES—Ayumi Anime pictured herself in the U.S. from a young age.

“A lot of people in Europe, they always were telling me that you are going to be very popular in America,” Anime recalls. “I’m like, ‘Why?’ They said, ‘You have to go there.’

“But it’s not about them. U.S. was always my dream from childhood. I was a little girl and I dreamt about America and to live there and to get a career there. That’s why I’m here.”

Born and raised in Ukraine, the 27-year-old Korean model made her adult industry debut in May after visiting the Larry Flynt Publications headquarters in Beverly Hills, where she received some tips about talent agencies to contact. Now represented by Motley Models, the girl/girl only performer at press time had done about 12 scenes, including work for Brazzers, Twistys, Girlfriends Films, Mofos, Screwbox, NetVideoGirls, Hustler and Penthouse, which recently shot her for an upcoming magazine cover and layout.

“I love it, absolutely,” Anime says. “I love girls. I love people in the industry for sure and I adore cameras. Sex between girls for me is an art. That’s my religion. And I like to look sexy for people, for cameras, for everyone. I think this is just something I wanted to do.”

Anime, who is fluent in Russian, moved to L.A. two years ago from Moscow, where she lived for five years after graduating from a university in Kiev, Ukraine, with a degree in French. She made a living as an independent mainstream model for much of the past seven years, appearing in ads for blue-chip companies such as Nike, Calvin Klein, Chanel and H&M. She also lived in France for a month while working for Armani. But doing the occasional bikini or lingerie shoot didn’t satisfy Ayumi’s desire to explore her naughtier side.

“I got bored because you have to put all your time for castings,” Anime says. “The whole day you’re in the casting, waiting for response, waiting for approval. Because I’m not like 15 years old. That’s why I’m here. I love porn more than mainstream because I hated when the designers tried to put on me like long dresses or something like that. I want to be naked.”

No one is arguing with that.

“I want to be a legend,” Anime continues. “I know it’s really hard because I came from Ukraine and my first language is Russian, not English, but I’m sure that everything’s possible and I love U.S. so much. I have a really great crew around me. It’s very important.”

In addition to conquering the porn world, Anime says she’d like to someday land a role in a mainstream movie as well as pursue her passion for singing.

“The primary thing I came to the U.S. for is I wanted to be a singer,” Anime reveals. “From the very, very childhood, I saw all those beautiful videos of Britney Spears and I was like I want to be there. I want to take the same videos and I will be a star. And yes I sing professionally. But for now it’s not the primary thing, because primary is my porn industry, something that I’m in and I’m interesting and I want to get the award, the [AVN], and then we’ll see.”

Anime specializes in singing pop music.

“I’m not Lady Gaga or Alicia Keys, I’m more like Beyonce—like a performer,” Anime explains. “I’m not writing. I am a great performer.”

She showed her performing talents on stage at the Alva Donna Arena in Belek, Turkey, at the 2015 Miss Eurasia Beauty Pageant. Ayumi took second place in the contest, but was named Miss Talent, Miss National Costume for her Korean dress, and Queen of the Grand Final Show.

During the Talent portion of the competition, Ayumi sang “Halo” by Beyonce and another song she co-wrote; she also did hip-hop dancing and played Japanese-style drums in a high-energy performance.

“It was weird because they wanted to give me first place but they knew that I have to move to U.S.,” Anime says.

Now she tries to practice her singing every other day.

“It was a pause for about two months because I got into the industry. Now I have time. You have to train your voice; you have to practice every day because it’s like muscles. If you don’t train your vocal chords, you will lose your ability to sing,” Anime says. “When I was a kid I always took something in my arm like a microphone and visualize myself on the big stage in America. I always see that picture, can you imagine that?

“I took classes when I was a little girl and I danced about five years professionally and then I gave up because a lot of different things. I didn’t have time. But I love to dance.”

Ayumi says she came up with her last name because “my friends and my colleagues, they always called me Anime at that time."

“And when I was creating a name for myself here in porn industry I found out just Ayumi is not enough and then I need to take something," she adds. "Someone remind me about Anime. Ayumi means ‘love’ from Japanese. I didn’t know about that. I took that name and then after some time I found out it’s love.”

In addition to fielding bookings for girl/girl scenes, Anime is beginning to work on her official site that will include more solo and all-girl content as well as one live show per week.

“I think that it should be popular because I’ve started a month ago, OnlyFans, and I have about 200 there,” she says. “I’m like wow, I’m popular!”

She says her favorite scene so far was her encounter with Honey Gold for Brazzers called “Freshen Up and Hookup” for director Toni Ribas.

“I think the most important thing is the cameraman. He was awesome, and the girl, Honey Gold, she’s so good and she’s like so easy-going,” Anime says. “I don’t know if I should tell this or not. That scene I came for sure, like naturally. And I felt myself in that scene like I was a professional. I don’t know why, I like that a lot. And the crew was just awesome.”

Anime also finds time to log onto MyFreeCams for her fans.

“I had great success the first three days actually. I did a lot of money,” she says. “I’m going to do also YouTube. I want to interview porn stars and it’s going to be kind of like a reality show. I need more traffic. I need more audience. It’s kind of a second project. We’re going to start as soon as possible. My first interview will be with Honey Gold.”

As for the future, Ayumi concludes, “I’m here and I’m ready to rock.”
