LOS ANGELES—Flaming Hearts Media (FHM) and Grooby are teaming up to host "Queer Prom: Come as You Are," a charity event aiming to celebrate the trans adult industry and its allies, and provide a safe and inclusive space for individuals to express themselves authentically. The even is scheduled to take place at the Avalon in Hollywood on September 4.
“We are excited to announce our first FHM and Grooby charity event catered to the LGBTQIA community, where we want to relive our high school prom and want everyone to ‘Come as You Are,'” said FHM co-founder Foxxy. “A lot of us, including myself, never got to be the true person we were due to society, resources, family, or even just being afraid to live the life we should have lived during our high school years.”
“Prom is such an important milestone in our culture and one that many in our community were unable to participate in fully as their authentic selves in high school,” commented FHM co-founder and Grooby creative and editorial director Kristel Penn. “We’ve been exploring this idea at Grooby for a few years, and it came up again last year in a conversation I had with Foxxy after seeing AI-created photos of our authentic selves in high school. Her sincere and direct, ‘Well, why can’t we do it? Let’s do it,’ to me was probably more effective than she realized. It was like she unintentionally gave me permission to do something for myself, and our community, that had felt strangely out of reach.”
Foxxy added, “I mean, if I could relive my high school years, I would have transitioned way sooner and I would have loved to attend both my proms as ‘Foxxy.’ This will be a fun event and we want to see everyone dressed up and having the time of their lives with friends and dancing the night away!”
"Queer Prom: Come as You Are" is an invite-only event for the trans adult industry, local LGBTQIA community, and allies. A portion of ticket sales and sponsorship fees will be donated directly to charity.
“Similar to the TEAs, this will be a community event rather than a public fan event,” explained Penn. “To cultivate safe space for our attendees so they can be authentically themselves without the pressure of being around non-industry guests and fans, we will be reviewing guest submissions internally for approval on a case-by-case basis.”
Entertainment for the event will be announced in the months to follow. Ticket pricing and sale date will be announced soon.
“Due to the nature of this event, we invite guests to purchase tickets ($40 each) directly or participate as sponsors,” Penn continued. “A portion of our ticket sales and sponsorship fees will be donated directly to charity.”
