First Day Numbers Indicate Vivid Film Featuring Janine’s First Boy/Girl Scene a Hit

Maneater, the Vivid film that features Janine’s first professional boy/girl scene, began shipping today and early sales figures indicate that adult retailers expect that the AVN Hall of Famer will still be a big hit with consumers, even after she virtually disappeared from the adult scene for over a year.

Howard Levine, national sales manager for Vivid, reports that the title has already moved 10,000 units to the east coast, leading him to anticipate that by next week, Maneater will have shipped 15 to 20 thousand units out the door.

“I was expecting to do numbers with it, big ‘Welcome back Janine!’ numbers,” Levine told AVN.com, “but I’m getting almost a Jenna Jameson type response in terms of volume and that’s incredible.”

Janine’s first professional boy/girl scene is with Nick Manning. Janine worked a decade in adult without having sex with a man on camera, before retiring in October of 2002 to marry Jesse James, a famous custom motorcycle builder.

In the ‘90s, a home video she made with Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was accidentally released.

While acknowledging that some of the demand for the film comes from the novelty of Janine with a man, Levine also credits the film’s apparent success to Janine herself, as well positive reviews for Maneater and a little extra promotional support from Janine’s ex-husband – Discovery Channel personality James.

James chronicled their relationship from onset to a bitter break up on Motorcycle Mania 3, which is frequently aired on the Discovery Channel. The couple broke up earlier this year, and Janine returned to her former employer, Vivid Video, this time offering to do boy/girl scenes.

“I’d also like to say thanks the salespeople at the distributors for getting it out there. They did an unbelievable job on Jenna Jameson Is the Masseuse, the first Tera Patrick title, and now Maneater,” Levine stated.
