On Wednesday, the Federal Communications Commission submitted a brief to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals defending its stance on explicit language and indecency, the Adult Freedom Foundation (AFF) reports.
Responding to the Fox network’s challenge of its ruling on last year’s Billboard Music Awards, the FCC maintained that its censure of the word ‘fuck’ was fully justified and that arguments from Fox regarding its policy were without merit.
The AFF report notes that the FCC called the V-chip device “ineffective” as a means of shielding children from explicit language, and that broadcasters have only “limited First Amendment protection.”
