Those who truly make porn performers into stars — the fans — gathered in throngs at the rear left corner of the Los Angeles Convention Center Saturday night to watch the biggest luminaries in the biz take the stage for the first ever F.A.M.E. Awards (Fans of Adult Media and Entertainment).
Essentially porn's answer to the People's Choice Awards, the winners at this show were decided entirely by fans, through a Website (thefameawards.com) where nominees were whittled down in a series of voting rounds.
Hosted by Carmen Luvana, Tommy Gunn and comedian “The Reverend” Bob Levy, the awards show was fast-paced and snappy, with few surprises, but lots of cheers and ecstatic thanks.
Levy conducted the opening monologue, cracking jokes about Ron Jeremy (“I'm not saying he's out of shape, but he's the only male porn star who can titty-fuck himself,”) husband-to-Jenna Jay Grdina (“I would fuck you to fuck her,”) and an extended rant on queefs.
The first presenters were power couple Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld, who handed the teardrop-shaped Lucite trophy for Favorite Oral Starlet to hostess Luvana, and that for Favorite Butt to Jenna Haze. Haze, who cried, “Wow!” as she got up from her seat, exclaimed from the podium, “That's crazy, I have like the smallest butt of any of these girls! It's 'cause I can take the big cocks in my ass, that's why.”
Digital Playground contract sisters Jesse Jane and Teagan Presley presented the next two awards, with (in almost the least shocking victory of the evening) Jules Jordan taking Favorite Director and Stormy Daniels being granted the Favorite Breasts prize, for which she thanked “my plastic surgeon, 'cause I guess it's a job well done.”
Favorite Feature Movie (in the absolute least shocking victory of the evening) went to Digital Playground/Adam & Eve's Pirates, while Favorite Gonzo Movie was picked up by Belladonna/Evil Angel's Belladonna: No Warning.
Jenna Jameson was surprised to win the Hottest Body award, telling AVN.com after the show, “I was really flattered, of course, but you know who I think has the greatest body? Jesse Jane. Oh my god, her ass is just perfect!”
Jameson also took Favorite Adult Actress, while The Perfect Slut (awarded to the “dirtiest girl in porn”) went to an elated Taryn Thomas, who campaigned for months on MySpace to get votes. Obviously, the same tactic worked for other nominees, as Alektra Blue in her acceptance speech for Rookie Starlet of the Year (which she tied with Brandy Talore) voiced a big thank you to her MySpace fans.
Wrapping up within about 30 minutes, Levy closed the show by shouting, “C'mon guys, let's go fuck some whores!” Brash? Yes. Apropos? More or less.
