LOS ANGELES—Emma Hix lathered her body in oil, stared into the camera and tiptoed across the sand in tight jean shorts and a pink bikini top.

Her sensual seduction on the beach in Malibu for Jonni Darkko’s All About Ass 4 turned into one of the most mouthwatering sequences of the year, leading to a nomination for the 2021 AVN Award for Best Solo/Tease Performance.

It was one of six 2021 AVN nominations for the 23-year-old native of Kelowna, British Columbia, who in the past five years has established herself as one of the most bankable stars in adult entertainment.

Now a homeowner in Las Vegas, Hix also earned nominations for Best Double Penetration Sex Scene for her throwdown with Jules Jordan and Steve Holmes for Anal Savages 5 (Jules Jordan Video); Most Outrageous Sex Scene for her tryst with Rocco Siffredi and Naomi Swann from Fashionistas Lost (EvilAngel.com); and the top individual honor in all of porn—Female Performer of the Year.

In addition, Hix received nominations in the Fan-Voted AVN Awards for Favorite Female Star and Social Media Star.

“The one that stuck out the most was Female Performer of the Year because that’s the one that I wanted since I was brand new in the industry,” Hix tells AVN. “So I feel very honored to have my work recognized like that.

“I really worked my ass off this year. It was an unfortunate year—2020 sucks in general. But the things that stuck out for me were becoming Penthouse Pet—that was a huge thing for me—and I did some really awesome scenes. I also did some features—some aren’t out yet but those were huge. So it’s going in the right direction.”

No one would argue Hix’s career isn’t locked on an upward trajectory.

The July 2020 AVN cover girl wanted to take December off to close out a trying year in a relaxing way—but the demand for her performances was too strong.

Hix says her agent Chris Cane from Foxxx Modeling kept fielding calls from some of her favorite producers and directors, asking if she was available for one last scene before the new year.

“He kept calling me and saying, ‘Do you want to work for so and so?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I love them. I love them, too.’ So I’m driving to Canada on the 20th and I’ll be staying for Christmas and then I’ll come back for the new year.

“I was planning to relax and take some time for myself, but I can’t say no. I love so many directors.”

She planned to shoot for Mason and Dark X; Tristan Seagal and PornPros; Toni Ribas and Brazzers; and go-to photographer Marcos Rivera, who shot her July AVN cover, among others before calling it a year.

Her January AVN feature photoshoot with Keith Ryan saw Hix embracing a “70s kind of vibe."

“I wish that I was born in the 70s,” Hix jokes, adding she loves music from the Bee Gees and David Bowie. “We did this colorful look and we were playing ‘Staying Alive’ and I was like this is exactly my jam.

“I’m really excited to see how the photos come out. It was one of one of my favorite shoots ever.”

Hix reveals that her oceanfront tease for the Hall of Fame shooter Jonni Darkko took place during a brisk late afternoon in December 2019—she was cold, but she did it for art’s sake.

“It was really windy and we were trying to work against the weather but I didn’t care if I was freezing to death,” Emma says with a laugh. “There were a few people around. I took my boobs out but no one seemed to care.

“We started around sunset and got some awesome sunset photos. I was so happy with the outcome. I knew it was already going to be awesome, but when I saw it I said, ‘Holy shit.’

“The first thing I thought was that I really hope this gets nominated for Best Solo/Tease.”

Hix followed that memorable sexual build-up with an anal workout with Jessy Jones.

She also shared her excitement about an upcoming feature role in Kay Brandt's Sugar & Spice for Marc Dorcel.

"That one has some killer talent," says Hix, noting she performs a girl/girl with Paige Owens, who plays her best friend in the film.

In addition, she also performed a couples swap scene with Owens, Ramon Nomar and Jay Smooth; and another group session with the star of the movie, Whitney Wright, Owens, Stirling Cooper, Nomar and Smooth.

"It was a lot of fun. We filmed it in two days and there was so much dialogue. They were long days but everyone had amazing attitudes," Hix adds. "There was a lot of positive energy and laughter."
