Emerald Triangle Girls Take 'Green Porn' to the Next Level

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif.—Quick quiz: Does anyone know what they call the section of California where the most marijuana, the state's largest cash crop, is grown? If you guessed "Emerald Triangle," give yourself a blunt, er, cigar! And now armed with that information, any guesses about the type of adult entertainment a company called Emerald Triangle Girls creates?

"Emerald Triangle Girls is a women-owned adult production company formed in 2015," reads the explanation on the company's website. "Our newest creation is EmeraldTriangleGirls.com, a girl/girl sex site with marijuana-themed plots and is due to hit the adult world in 2016."

Of course, actually, the site has already "hit"; it's got several videos up and running for subscribers—but the new news is that the company is about to release its first DVDs, not to mention VOD, and the site's publicist, Megan Stokes' New Media Group, is even working on getting the material onto multiple media.

"We recently picked up Emerald Triangle Girls because I saw something unique there, so we handle all of their broadcasts, their DVDs, their VOD, basically everything that's not their pay site," Stokes explained. "The reason we picked up Emerald Triangle Girls is, obviously with everything being legalized in multiple states—and we actually signed them before California passed legalization in the last election, and we felt they were headed in that direction. Right now, the whole clamor for the more erotic, sensual, couples-friendly stuff is very popular; clearly we do tremendously with some of our other clients, Met-Art and PurePassion, and this is in a similar vein, but it's touching on the marijuana industry which has seen so much growth, so we felt like it was the right time to pick up somebody who was hitting on a target market that's already popular but having this extra niche to it.

And it's not as if Stokes is coming into the pot/porn field cold.

"In my Shane's World days, we did Blazed & Confused, which was more reality and funny and goofy and partying," Stokes recalled, "and of course, they're now getting into edibles, and I'm still a part of that company—so with that, like Shane's World, Emerald Triangle has such a party vibe to it, and that's how I've always seen the marijuana industry presented: Not in more of the refined, high-end, expensive—I don't know how to describe it, but with Emerald Triangle, I've just never seen it presented in such a high-end manner, and that's why I like their content and thought there was a lot of opportunity for them, actually."

Shot exclusively with 4K hi-def cameras, the Emerald Triangle scenes don't look like a lot of the adult content that's out there. For one thing, just about everything is shot with a stationary camera, so there's no following one gal's hand caressing the other one's pussy, no jump-cuts between naked breasts and full bush.

"I think one of the things I find unique about them is, until you see the content, you kind of have different expectations than when you see it," Stokes said. "They do a lot of unique on-camera interviews; they interview the girls about their usage, how they started, that sort of thing, so there's a little bit of that reality aspect, but instead of it having a reality look, it comes across more as like a 20/20 interview. Then it's combining beautiful erotic scenes with marijuana, and it comes across as couples friendly, it comes across as high-end, and like I said, I haven't seen anyone else take that approach; everyone's just kind of always taking a party attitude; let's get stoned, and I feel the content is really geared toward the connoisseur."

Although the site started out almost entirely amateur, in the past few months, the company has reached out to some well-known adult talent, several of whom have made no secret of the fact that they enjoy getting stoned.

"They've been looking for, more than anything, unique girls that have an interesting perspective and an interesting story," Stokes stated. "Now, some of the girls are definitely well-known porn stars. They have Riley Reid and they have Skin Diamond, and I mean, those are big-name girls, but they also have girls I've never seen before."

The first Emerald Triangle Girls DVD will be released sometime this month, to be distributed by Pulse, and as soon as it is, Stokes' job will kick into high gear.

"We're going to be selling to various VOD and broadcast providers, but because we don't have the first movie out yet, I haven't been able to shop a title to the broadcaster yet, but I have shown them some trailers and we do have some interest," Stokes revealed, adding, "Of course, everyone's nervous; this is going to be one of those things that's going to have a hu-u-uge curve of getting past a lot of regulations."

Indeed; although last November, Californians voted to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes, there are no marijuana shops yet that adults can buy pot in (unless they have a prescription for it for medical purposes), and none are expected until at least 2018. But growing it and smoking it in one's home or other private facility are now perfectly legal—and there seems to be no legal reason why that smoking—and the hot sex that follows—couldn't be captured on video.

As it is, Emerald Triangle Girls update their website about once a week, and there are already dozens of scenes available—enough that the company expects to be able to put out a new DVD of the material about every six weeks.
