SAINT LOUIS, MO—June Ann is a woman of many talents. Not only did she produce, direct and star in the new erotic film The Treachery of Love, which will be screened at the annual Dreamachine International Film Festival held December 18-20, but she's also won an award for it through the film festival.
“Having been in the adult entertainment world as a performer for well over a decade, I always craved more from the artistic and conceptual angles of pornographic and erotic filmmaking," Ann said. “So I knew that I wanted to break the mold and make an erotic piece that lives without a classic storytelling arc. An art film that just exists and breathes and whispers to your libido.”
In addition to her work on The Treachery of Love, Ann is making a splash in the adult world this year with her lead role in Sssh.com’s Mirror Game and is co-producing, co-directing and starring in Wasteland.com’s Gone Viral.
Inspired by Magritte’s "The Treachery of Images", in The Treachery of Love, Ann non-verbally argues that the one-sided representation of sex in media, whether through sensationalized click bait disguised as journalism or the male-dominated pornographic vision, strips sex to an act that nullifies its complexities and emotions. Created with absolutely no budget, Ann expects that this piece proves that there is a place for sex in art.
“I’m hoping viewers will approach this piece as if they were at a museum,” Ann said, “stopping briefly to take the invitation to ponder themes of autonomous love, voyeurism and the definition of porn itself.”
