Less than a month after being released from jail on obscenity charges, the owner of Doctor John's adult retail chain has been arrested for allegedly distributing obscene material again.
John Haltom waived his arraignment and pleaded innocent to charges of distributing obscene material in Scottsbluff yesterday. He is free on $500 bail.
Haltom was arrested for selling videos to undercover officers that authorites say are similar to the ones that led to his arrest in Omaha, for which he served six months in jail.
Dr John’s is an adult retail chain spread throughout the mid-west, and Haltom is constantly embroiled in legal battles across the region.
Earlier this month, Doctor John's Inc. also filed a lawsuit against the city of Sioux City, Iowa, claiming its zoning regulations were designed to keep his Doctor John's Lingerie Boutique from opening there.
In May, the Utah Supreme Court rejected his challenge of that state's sexually oriented licensing law. Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his appeal without comment.
