LOS ANGELES — Dorcel has teamed with veteran director Kay Brandt, reigning AVN Best Leading Actress Kenna James, and three-time AVN Award winner Vanna Bardot for The Invitation. The movie is available now on DVD at U.S. retailers from Pulse Distribution.
The big-budget, 187-minute relationship saga in the tradition of the studio’s 2021 hit Sugar & Spice, is the latest collaboration from Brandt and the Paris-based studio. The new release also features Gia Derza, Bella Rolland, Destiny Cruz, Jay Smooth, Jessy Jones, Codey Steele and Robby Echo.
The movie tells the story of harried Janie (James), a workaholic whose professional commitments have become so overwhelming she’s willing to take calls during sex with her boyfriend Justin (Smooth) just to keep up with her competitors at the office. So, when Justin receives an invitation from their friends Sage (Bardot) and Anthony (Steele) to join them for a relaxing getaway at their villa, it seems like the perfect opportunity to get Janie's mind off her career.
Already a hit with audiences and critics online, The Invitation received an Editor's Choice rating from the reviewers at Adult Empire, where the VOD version of the film earned a multi-week reign as the site's #1 VOD title. "The Invitation has the robust run time to contain (quite literally) fleshed-out sex scenes as well as long, frank dialogue exchanges that wouldn’t seem out of place in a sophisticated stage play," AE's reviewer observed. "Notably, it also contains very steamy moments in between the five formally delineated sex scenes."
Of the film's commercial scenes, the reviewer noted, "In Kay Brandt’s Sugar & Spice, she showed an uncanny knack for incorporating culinary themes into her porn features. This trope returns in subtle but effective fashion in scene one, when Justin initiates his lovemaking with Janie by teasing her breasts with some cupcake icing… It neatly captures the unique physical connection the couple shares, while simultaneously establishing a certain trepidation that becomes key to later plot developments."
