Colin Kane Named Host, Flo Rida Musical Guest for 2017 AVN Awards

CHATSWORTH, Calif—AVN Media Network announced comedian Colin Kane will be the host and chart-topping musician Flo Rida will be the special musical guest for the 2017 AVN Awards.

The AVN Awards, the sexiest awards show of the year, will take place on Jan. 21 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.

If you like dirty comedy, Colin Kane’s your man.

An insult comic that acknowledges the line, and leaps over it, Kane is best known for his in-your-face delivery and off-the-cuff crowd work. Featuring an unlikely and powerful blend of piercing bite with an authentic heart, Colin’s R-rated act tackles sex, relationships, race ... and everyone, from all walks of life, who have been enjoying his shows, since he first started his career.

Kane recently made his film debut in a breakout role opposite Kevin Hart in The Wedding Ringer, which was the No. 1 comedy in America for three weeks in a row. He has a special on Showtime, won Howard Stern’s respected “Kill or Be Killed” comedy competition, and performs for our troops whenever possible through the Wounded Warrior Project.

Colin’s popularity has proven contagious across the country, and has grown rapidly in the past few years, due mostly from the word-of-mouth of his powerful and dedicated fan base. Almost without fail, anyone who comes to one of his shows is guaranteed to come back with friends to see him again.

Born-and-bred in New York, where he honed his comedy for a decade at first-class comedy clubs like Caroline’s and Gotham, he now lives in Los Angeles and regularly headlines sold-out theaters and comedy clubs across the country.

Born Tramar Dillard, Flo Rida was raised by a single mother in Miami’s rough neighborhood of Carol City. Music helped Flo Rida stay on the straight path. His father was a talented musician who encouraged his son to express himself through music. Growing up, Flo Rida was exposed to all kinds of music, thanks in large part to his sisters, some of whom formed a local gospel group. When he was a teenager, Flo Rida found local success rapping with a group called the Groundhoggz. At 18, he became the hype man for Fresh Kid Ice from 2 Live Crew. Eventually, Flo Rida caught the attention of DeVante Swing, formerly of famed R&B group Jodeci and spent a few years in Los Angeles working with him.  Unable to land a record deal, Flo Rida returned home to Miami and in late 2006 hooked up with Poe Boy Entertainment and its CEO, Elric “E-Class” Prince.

In December 2006, Flo Rida inked a deal with Atlantic Records releasing his debut album Mail On Sunday in 2008.  The first single “Low,” featuring T-Pain, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart followed by “Elevator,” featuring Timbaland and “In the Ayer” featuring will.i.am—both of which reached the top 20 Billboard charts. His next album R.O.O.T.S. (which was released only nine months later) featured “Right Round” with Ke$ha. That song broke a record for the most digital one week sales in the U.S., beating his own record with the release of “Low.” Three more albums followed, each with chart-topping singles and also highlights on several film soundtracks. His latest album, My House, has also graced the charts and the song has become a staple in America’s lexicon from college life to sports.

In 2009, Flo Rida started his own management company, Strong Arm, with longtime friend and manager, Lee “Freezy” Prince. With the success of his management company, Flo Rida and Lee “Freezy” Prince launched their own record label IMG in the summer of 2011. With his musical success, Flo Rida got back to his roots of giving back and started Big Dreams for Kids, a nonprofit foundation committed to inspiring future leaders.

The 2017 AVN Awards is sponsored by Chaturbate and MyFreeCams. The show will be hosted by adult superstar Riley Reid and Penthouse Pet of the Year Aspen Rae on Jan. 21 as part of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo presented by MyFreecams, scheduled Jan. 18-21.
