There was a time a decade or so ago when Christie Stevens was at a crossroads. The 25-year-old had earned her BS in mass communications, but this was in the aftermath the 2008 financial crisis and the job market was soft. So she asked herself, law school or porn? She decided that she could do law school anytime, but porn had more of a time limit. Christie back-pocketed her legal dreams and headed for Porn Valley.
Over 10 years the busty blonde has proven herself to be one of the most endearing and enduring performers of her time. Despite being several years older than most girls making their porn debut, she has endured fabulously and today’s Christie looks remarkably similar to the Christie who made her debut with Justin Magnum for the HornyBirds website in November 2011.
Today she has credits in close to 400 scenes and she’s checked off goal after goal, penciling in some new ones along the way. While she doesn't have a wheelbarrow full awards to her name, she’s racked up an impressive career by any measure.
Young Christie grew up in Southern California with a Mormon mother and a non-LDS father and went to the promised land to attend the University of Utah. She supported herself by working in a local topless club in the Mormon mecca of Salt Lake City, which made for some curious situations. Yes, Mormons occasionally flouted church rules to go inside. Her mother showed up at the club once, too.
“I got very lucky, we were the only club that did lap-dances and VIPs in the state, only 7-10 girls per night, and Utah was one of the top three economies when the recession hit,” Christie says. “Missionaries occasionally came in before they left [on their missions]: garments, magic underwear, would be found on the bathroom floor, a few guys running out and changing their mind at the last minute saying, ‘Keep the money!’ The biggest scandal was probably my mom when I was brand new. She picketed out front once [to protest Christie’s working there]. I wasn’t there, thankfully. She also hired a private investigator to follow me. Apparently I offered him a VIP dance.”
That might be the biggest scandal from her college-girl-stripping days, but it definitely wouldn’t be the biggest Christie-Mormon scandal of her career. Two years ago, she posted a video titled “Cumming to the Mormon Church…Literally!” to her Pornhub. It might have gone unnoticed in Porn Valley, but among Mormons she might as well have ripped baby Jesus out of the manger and shook him until the donkeys came home. Publicly at least, members of the church were not pleased.
“They were mad!” she says. “I thought it was obvious it was a joke. I feel a little bad about that, I guess. It’s Twitter though, come on people! I don’t feel bad about the videos. I filmed a very quick solo outside the church in front of the sign and took a couple topless pics pretending to walk in, but never went inside. I never filmed inside their temple. That was entirely a joke. One drunk tweet and you’re the villain of an entire religion. I thought it was hilarious. They didn’t. I guess in my head the idea seemed so ridiculous, but for some reason they believed it."
Christie eventually graduated with a BS in mass communications and her eye on law school, but in reality, she had no idea what to do with her degree.
“They did not prepare us for the real world at all,” Christie says. “Everyone says college prepares you for the real world. It was a lie! I don’t regret my education, but the only thing I could do with it was get another degree (law), keep dancing, or porn, which is where I am now. I graduated during the last recession so there were no jobs. But it all worked out in the end.”
Despite making her debut at an age when most female performers have already come and gone, 25-year-old Christie looked young enough when she started and time has been remarkably gentle with the California girl. She earned a Best New Starlet nom in her first eligible year (at the 2013 AVN Awards) and for the second half of her career has easily morphed into MILF roles. She’s also amassed a lot of great memories and highlights over the years.
“Having Rachel McAdams stop and stare right at me while I was getting fake DP’d and topless 50 times over and over. Like that part in [True Detective], she had to stop and stare at me, then stumble out of the room,” Christie says, rattling off a list of Great Moments in Christie History. “RIP my notebook fantasies. It hasn’t been the same. Orgy scene in Westworld. Cinemax movies. AVN noms early on. Blacked Raw DP with Jax Slayher and Jason Luv. Anal with Dredd. Best Supporting Actress nom (OMG... It's the Dirty Dancing XXX Parody), I think because I said ‘creampie’ instead of ‘facial.’ There would be no Dirty Dancing plot without that. My dress at the 2017 AVN Awards…”
Surprisingly, she says turning 30 was actually the biggest highlight of her career. The number has devastated many and in an appearance- and age-obsessed industry like porn the 3-Oh can be particularly brutal. Not for Christie!
“Turning 30 was huge for my career. I was officially the MILF age, in great shape, and I felt 100% happy to do MILF scenes once I was 30," she says. "Directors finally knew where to put me! Turning 30 and becoming a real MILF opened so many doors for me. So many companies I hadn’t shot for previously.
"I had been in that 25-29 range that no one really knows where to put or what to do with. That’s also when I started with ATMLA. Learning how to direct and focusing on my OnlyFans and continuing to shoot for other companies. I used to watch other directors and think there’s so much going on I could never learn that! But I have been! I’ve been picking it up! And I’m passionate about it. And having a new passion helps performing not get old.”
As with so many in the industry, 2020 was a year for monetizing social platforms and learning new things. For Christie, it meant meeting one of her long-term goals—becoming a director—so that she could keep posting great content to her OnlyFans.
“After so long performing I never thought I’d make the transition, but then the pandemic happened and I realized I had a natural desire to learn about photography, angles, lighting, soft boxes, posing, it didn’t feel forced and I genuinely enjoy it and enjoy learning.”
Of course, with shooting and everything else all but shut down, she had the time. She also had a huge following. Christie can be found all over the socials, but OnlyFans and Twitch are probably the best places to enjoy the Christie experience. Her abilities applicable to OnlyFans are obvious, but Twitch was a bit of a stretch for her since she wasn’t a natural born gamer.
“People say I’m really great at talking with chat/answering their messages,” she says. “I’m not much of a gamer, but when I was growing up they didn’t market video games to girls. I wish they had. The only game I’ve beaten so far is Bioshock Infinite. I didn’t think at 33 I’d be learning about software programs and PCs and video games and PlayStations, but I learned the software, I learned the games, and I’m still learning, and it’s a satisfying feeling.”
These things that seemed like extras before the pandemic became lifesavers—and game-changers—in 2020. For Christie, not only did it give her the opportunity to learn a new immediately-applicable skill, she also came out of it a business owner.
“I got very lucky with OnlyFans and Twitch,” she says. “There were the inevitable dips, but now I’m running two of my own businesses.”
That doesn’t mean she’s done shooting commercial scenes for Porn Valley’s most respectable companies—things are rolling along too well.
Does she still harbor dreams of practicing law? Corporate law still brings a twinkle to her eye, but her scholarship benefactor has passed away and Christie has come to realize that studying law would leave zero time for anything else and she’s just not ready to quit porn yet. She has a few more things she’d like to accomplish.
“I’ve still never done my own showcase,” she says. “I want to hire someone to co-direct with me and either sell it on my OnlyFans or shop it around. I still haven’t done double vag or double anal. AVN Hall of Fame? Learn everything I can about photography and videography.”
If she was able to give Christie the younger a little advice before getting into the industry? She would keep it simple: “Don’t stress so much about missing a shoot here or there. The right opportunities come at the right time. Also, you will only shit on one person, so relax about anal scenes.”
