LOS ANGELES – In a world that can't enough of the antics of mainstream celebrities, is it any wonder that the porn business hasn't done the same thing? Witness the proliferation of "porn blogs."
One that seems to draw a fair amount of attention—as well as controversy—is ChristianSingsTheBlues.com, the online home of performer Christian XXX.
"I've always been a computer guy and I have my college degree in history," Christian told AVN. "I've always wanted to write some kind of book or something. I always wanted to be able to say I had written something. Not that I'd make a million dollars or write the next great American novel, but I wanted to write. What I came up with was a year in the life of what I do for a living as a male performer."
So does that mean the performer will stop at end of the year?
"I don't know," he said. "Honestly, I bought the domain name and I put this stuff up. I'm trying to do this right. Most blogs post every three days, but I've written every day since January 1 because its very cathartic and fun. It's changed me. It's made me a different person already. It's strange."
Christian claims that response has been positive. "I thought maybe a couple hundred people might look at it every now and again, " he said. "But I get 2,500 hits a day. I've gotten as many as 5,000. It's gotten to be a pretty good little base. It's cool. I get a lot of e-mails. It's very empowering."
The performer also says that he is happy with the site the way it is. "People have told me I should make it more like a news site, but that's not why I started this," he said. "I don't care about the news. This is about my life."
One aspect of Christian's life that has drawn a fair amount of commentary on various message is his past performing with transsexuals and doing gay work as Maxx Diesel. He has drawn criticism for castigating female performers who don't want to work with him because of this.
"It's not a controversy," Christian said. "I just explain my thought process behind it and I got to there. It's just normal life in the business…but I just have a blog. That happens to every guy. Girls don't work with guys all the time and the guys complain, but they don't have a blog like I do."
And what about the name of the site? He answered, "The name of the site is a little joke: 'Christian sings the blues.' I complain about my life where I get laid every day and make good money and only work about four hours."
Yep, things are coming up roses for Christian XXX.
