Chef Jeff Story Hits Mainstream News

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Geoff "Chef Jeff" Mena's recent firing from a job at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex after an anonymous letter was sent to city staff expressing concern over his history in adult has caught the attention of some local media outlets.

The Arizona Republic printed a story about the scandal Wednesday, and Thursday, the local NBC affiliate, KPNX-TV, ran a segment in which Mena told his story to reporter Joe Dana.

"There's a big question raised here," Dana said in his talk-up to the interview with Mena. "To what extent can an employer hold accountable an employee for activities not related to work that the employer considers inappropriate?"

Dana went on to note that Surprise officials had told the station they could not discuss Mena's firing because they had not received permission from him to do so.
