Center of Attention: On the Set of Brazzers' 'Kira on Display'

LOS ANGELES—Watching and being watched. When everyone in the world has a camera and a screen they can watch in the palm of their hand, it pushes the dynamic between the performer and the audience into unknown territory. But when you’re a popular, multi-award-winning adult star and 2023 AVN Female Performer of the Year, like Kira Noir, your reality is about being seen.

In Kira On Display, the Brazzers showcase series featuring Noir and directed by veteran helmer Lea Lexis, the actress explores her most explicit exhibitionist fantasies including a G/G, B/G, and gangbang. The final shoot, on July 31, was a threesome with Noir, 2023-24 AVN Trans Performer of the Year Emma Rose, and starlet Ameena Green, and will be the third installment in the series.

Lexis said they shot the gangbang earlier in the production sequence because it was a big scene requiring a lot of energy from the crew and performers and, so, she had decided against doing it last for that reason. It was the last installment when the series premiered in September.

“I think extraordinary things take extraordinary effort,” Lexis laughed. “It’s driven by [Kira] and her ideas. So, it’s exciting for me to shoot something that a performer wants to do and fantasizes about. Because I’m from the old school generation in which we were told what to do, ‘You’re gonna do this, then you’re gonna do this...’ So, I think it’s very exciting to see a performer’s fantasies, ideas, and desires come to life. It’s very exciting for me to make that happen.”

With nearly 800 scene credits as a performer, Lexis started her career in 2007, in Budapest, shooting for large and small production studios in Europe and the U.S. At the time, gonzo content was king and many of her scenes were with pioneering gonzo producer Evil Angel and early online BDSM platform Kink.com, eventually directing for both. For Brazzers, Lexis has directed fan favorite contract star Angela White in her showcase series Angela White: Unbound, among several other projects. 

The set for that afternoon’s scene was a clean, all-white interior. A bank of a dozen various-sized monitors displayed the same view of a clear plexiglass booth stationed feet away with its hot pink “You’re So Pretty” neon sign.

Shedding her robe, Noir was in costume. Platform patent leather-look boots, garters, and a black strap-on harness that hugged her hips. The bejeweled black bra top she wore could have been designed by surrealist Salvador Dali—a sculpted, disembodied arm that was fitted to her torso with straps, the hand cradling her bare breasts. Peeking out from under a black stormtrooper-style hat, Noir’s mood was playful as the cameraman framed the shots, walking through the scene set-up.

“The idea for this scene is I’m doing a live stream. It starts out as a solo. Ameena is the photographer and helps with the cameras. Emma is my assistant doing make-up. So, I’m going to be doing a solo first, in the big glass box, pressing up against it, licking it. Then, what I’d like to do is call them in and have them join me,” Noir described.

“It’s kind of based on my love for exhibitionism and voyeurism, so, everything in this movie has to do with people peeping in on me or watching me, trying to show off for everyone else—because it makes me really scared and horny to do something like that.”

For the threesome, the director and performers agreed there would be toy play, including a strap-on, and squirting during the scene. Because it might’ve turned out to be an intense scene, two talent assistants were assigned to help with communication and ensure the performers’ comfort levels, Lexis pointed out. There also was a discussion of protocols for safe words or stopping the scene for any reason, which is standard procedure on any professional set.

The script was straightforward, as Noir got inside the stall-sized box and took control of the space. Starlet Green acted out the photographer role with a still camera, while veteran cinematographer Marko B. rolled his camera on the actual action. Out of frame, some secondary angles were shot on an iPhone for a more voyeuristic feel.

Framing Noir inside the box, he then panned over to capture multiple monitor images of her as she showed off in a series of seductive poses. Pulling back, the shot opened up to reveal the complete vignette, with Rose running in to adjust Noir’s makeup.

Lexis called out, “Cut!” The solo play portion of the scene followed with Noir pressed up against the glass as promised, then turning her attention to a selection of hot pink dongs (and, inexplicably, one natural-colored dildo). Salivating with lust, Noir licked the glass, licked the suction cup bases of the stiff silicone dildos, and fixed them on the plexiglass pane in front of her with a satisfying splat. Escalating into a simulated POV blowbang under glass, Noir eagerly ate it up for the camera.

Behind the cameras, Rose and Green quietly scrolled their phones, as the crew focused on Noir.

“We shot for Dorcel a while back and it was our only time shooting together. I wanted to have another opportunity, but we’re both really busy,” Rose explained to AVN. “It was a beautiful lesbian girl-girl—one of my favorite [scenes].”

“There was no penetration which, sadly, is why I think it didn’t get nominated,” she added. “I love lesbian scenes because I feel like there’s more room to do more things and kind of feel it out. There’s no rush to do penetration and, especially being a trans scene, too, you don’t shoot them like men.”

For today’s threesome, Rose shared, “I’m topping and bottoming. It’s going to be an amazing scene.”

Green, a relative newcomer after two years in the industry, said she has worked for several companies under the Aylo umbrella including Reality Kings, Twistys, Mofos and Brazzers. It was her first time working with Noir or Rose.

“I said I’d love to,” when her agent offered her the gig. “I really like working with Brazzers. I feel like they’re really accommodating and the crew looks out for you. They have the most unique and interesting visions in terms of scenes. It’s very campy and I love that.”

“What I love about today is that it’s Kira’s vision,” Green added. “I haven’t necessarily been on a set where it’s creative to this degree. We’re literally walking into Kira’s sexual fantasies and I think that’s what makes it so intimate, so fun, and amazing to be a part of. Everything from how the set is set up to her outfits—I think it’s really hot. And it’s really real, in the sense we’re performers and we get to make a scene about that.”
