NEW YORK - The latest episode of CBS prime-time drama "Swingtown" featured a storyline about Gerard Damiano's landmark porn film "Deep Throat" - complete with a sympathetic portrayal of "Throat" star Harry Reems.
In the July 4 episode "You Can Go Your Own Way," Susan (Molly Parker) attends a free-speech fundraiser to benefit Reems' legal defense in the famous court battles over "Deep Throat."
Susan is at first disgusted by the idea of a porn star, but changes her mind after reading court documents and realizing the First Amendment issues involved. When Reems shows up to screen the movie at the suburban living-room affair, Susan and others are forced to examine their own sexual mores and their reactions to the "Throat" controversy.
