LOS ANGELES—On the eve of Girlsway’s 10th anniversary, the popular Adult Time lesbian studio on Tuesday announced the July release of its first feature film in four years, Spun, starring reigning AVN Best New Starlet Chanel Camryn and written and directed by Casey Calvert.
The spotlight showcase marks a return to Girlsway’s roots in feature filmmaking four years on from 2020’s Cougar Queen, directed remotely by Calvert during the pandemic, and the Adult Time Ambassador is excited to be able to bring that element back to the brand and platform again in 2024.
Spun is described as a Y2K-inspired dramedy that weaves together popular themes from Girlsway’s past successes with Casey's distinctive real-world filmmaking approach.
Camryn, eager to expand her acting repertoire and feature film experience, headlines alongside an all-star cast that includes Electra Rayne, Dana Vespoli, Lauren Phillips, Freya Parker, Maya Woulfe, Lulu Chu, Liz Jordan, Alexis Tae and Adult Time Chief Creative Officer Bree Mills in a cameo appearance.
“Spun is an all-girl movie about playing spin the bottle, but at its heart it’s a story about an unrequited crush and finally getting the one that got away,” said Calvert. “For my directorial return to Girlsway, I wanted to combine giving the diehard fans the hot lesbian sex they love with my indie filmmaking aesthetic. My cast, led by Chanel Camryn, were all incredible and I’m so proud of the work they’ve done this past week. I want to thank Bree Mills and the entire team at Adult Time for welcoming me back home so warmly. I’m really happy with what we shot, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
Camryn enthused, “My agent tried to keep it a surprise for me because he knew that this was like my first lead role in a feature and how much I adore Casey because I talk about it all the time. I mean, you knew. So yeah, I didn't find out until like a few weeks ago that I was in the movie, but I didn't know I was the lead role until I got the script. And then I was like, oh my God, I'm so nervous!
“It's been amazing. It's been so fun. I really have stepped out of my comfort zone in the sense of doing things that I'm not used to doing. And it's been great just to see how much more than just the sexual stuff that I can do. It’s a meaningful storyline that's legit and like Real World that I can get into it. It's so nice to immerse in the characters. It's been really fun. I also love how organized everything is here. They're doing a great job of moving things along quickly and keeping it together. So, it's just been great. I would love to do this again and I'm just so happy to be here.”
As Girlsway continues its tradition of storytelling and innovation in film, Spun represents both a nod to the studio’s past and a step into its future, the studio said.
“I can’t wait to see features make their return to Girlsway,” added Girlsway creator Mills, who also serves as the executive producer of this film. “After all, it’s where so many of our careers originated!”
Spun is set for release exclusively at Girlsway.com and the AdultTime.com streaming network, home to an extensive catalog of award-winning content—with access to more than 420 channels, 63,000 scenes and eight new releases per day all in one subscription.
