Brooke Lee Adams, Gracie Glam Throw Memorial Day Bash for Military

LOS ANGELES—Internet and video adult performer Brooke Lee Adams and AVN Award nominee Gracie Glam will celebrate the start of summer with a party honoring the country's servicemen and women.

Adams and Glam are sponsoring a Memorial Day party in San Diego that they hope will bring additional attention to the campaign to repeal the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. The party kicks off at 2 p.m. on Memorial Day. Partygoers, who are advised to bring a swimsuit, will be shuttled to the venue.

"No matter what your political affiliation, everyone can agree that our armed forces represent the best of America," Adams said. "The Memorial Day party is our way of showing our appreciation to the men and women who serve. Gracie and I hope they have a great time and enjoy themselves. It's the least we could do for them."

Adams, who is an advocate for gays serving in the military, added that momentum is building to repeal 'Don't ask, don’t tell,’ and that people with desperately needed skills—servicemen and women fluent in Arabic and Farsi, intelligence analysts and mission-critical personnel—are being discharged because of the policy.

"If someone wants to serve and is in harm's way in defense of the country, it shouldn't matter whether they're straight or gay. While this isn't the focus of the event, we hope people will think about what a more inclusive armed forces will mean for military readiness," she said.
