CYBERSPACE—Journalist Susannah Breslin, whose reporting on the porn industry appears regularly on the Forbes website, turned her attention this week to Bree Mills. Noting that the Gamma Entertainment VP of content wears many hats, Breslin focuses on one of the most prominent: her role in creating Girlsway, “a female-centric line of adult content that's found success by targeting a niche market and turning its consumers into co-creators.”
Breslin catches Mills on set with director Stills by Alan and performers Natalia Starr and Whitney Wright, who are shooting a scene in which Wright pretends to seek employment as Starr’s assistant—one of the many scenarios Girlsway has based on fantasies provided by its members and fans of its DVDs (distributed by Girlfriends Films).
Mills, ever articulate, is more than happy to share some of her strategies for creating an adult brand that draws eyeballs—and market share. "We are fighting for attention," Mills tells Breslin. "It's really: Who's going to have the most interesting thing? The setups, the story, the seduction—that's what they want.”
