Brad Armstrong Wraps 1st Season of Wicked's 'Porn: The Series'

LOS ANGELES—Wicked Pictures and director Brad Armstrong delve into the realm of the adult anthology series with new outing Porn: The Series, which just wrapped season one of a committed three seasons.

Described as a compendium of "meta-porn" tales dramatizing true industry stories—one of which was co-written by Wicked contract star Jessica Drake—there are 13 episodes planned over the three seasons, with season one debuting on Wicked.com in mid-March.

"I'm really excited to be underaking this new project," Armstrong said. "In my 25-plus years as a director, I've never done anything like it. All 13 episodes are based on true stories that I've heard or been involved in over my many years in the industry. The characters and situations have been altered for dramatic effect, but all of these stories really happened. And some continue to happen every day."

Armstrong continued, "We just finished shooting the first four episodes and I couldn't be happier. Everyone brought their A-game to the screen and really brought the characters to life. Some of the talent's lived experiences are very similar to those in our scripts, so there's an incredible genuineness being portrayed."

The director expressed excitement over the expanded storytelling palette offered by this new format, which mirrors the type of fare popularized in the mainstream by streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon. "The on-screen life of a porn star is pretty exciting, but sometimes their off-screen adventures are even more interesting," Armstrong reflected. "There's a wide range of topics and sexual situations in Porn: The Series that are both 'timeless'—from an era long since gone—as well as 'timely' scenarios straight from today's adult culture."

Commented Drake, "Between the storyline, casting and art direction, Brad has outdone himself again, solidifying his best director status. This series is sexually charged, revealing and socially relevant. Every story is based on real-life experiences that we as performers face on a daily basis. From the sexual adventures to the stigma and stereotypes, Porn: The Series has it all.

"I am honored to have co-created my episode with Brad for a dose of extra reality," she added. "My recurring character gives us a very personal look at sexual self-exploration and embodies vulnerability. As always, we are grateful to Wicked for allowing us this foray into a new dimension of storytelling."

In addition to Drake and Armstrong, other performers featured in season one of Porn: The Series include Casey Calvert, Tiffany Watson, Ryan Driller, Isiah Maxwell, Michael Vegas, India Summer, Dick Chibbles, Seth Gamble, Kendra Spade, Megan Marx, Frank Bukkwyd and Riley Nixon.

For his part, Wicked president and owner Steve Orenstein shared the enthusiasm of Drake and Armstrong for the new endeavor. "Brad has been exclusive with Wicked for over two decades and has won more awards than we can count over that time for his standout blockbuster movies," Orenstein said. "With Porn: The Series, I see him continuing that same success for himself and Wicked in this episodic format as he has with his feature-length movies. We are looking forward to everyone seeing this new direction."

Regarding the remainder of the series, Armstrong hinted, "I'm definitely looking forward to shooting the rest of the episodes, and delivering an amazing finale with what I believe is a truly off-the-charts cliffhanger ending."
